For those who know it:

Free Running or Parkour:

http://www.parkour.com/
http://www.parkour.nl/

Now I know a PSP / PS2 game is in development called "Free Running" ( http://www.freerunning.com/ ), which will come somewhere 2007, but is there any game for the pc which is similar to this game or has this aspect in the gameplay. I know Assassin has it, but that one still has to be released for the pc. Not to mention it will eat everyone their pc up due to its insane system requirements Razz

So anyone with any suggestions?

You could try "getting up". has a lot of jumping around and hanging from edges as well kinda like Prince Of Persia but then in an urban environment.

(Off topic: damn it's weird to have a spell checker in Firefox)

The trailer of Free running looks ugly :/ And the animations are bad, hope they fix that because smooth animations are astonishing (cf. Ass Creed).

Because using a combination of martial arts, gymnastics and running in public is the same as dressing like a ninja and being suicidal.

Ah yes getting up looks like something that has this type of gameplay. Gonna grab that.

Lol and yeah, I'm quite sure most of us ran around from fence to fence, bench, wall etc etc in the younger days. But now I'm an old sob (yeah right Razz) and you feel responsible for your body! *cough cough*

So we look for alternatives Wink

Haha, very true. Sometimes I forget some gamers are over 35+ years old, being an 18 year old youngster myself. Apologies.

haha I'm not that old, I'm 22 (23 in few weeks), but with some health problems your body isnt quite as fit as you want it to be Razz

Good thing the "main function" Wink still works \o/

But I'd love to jump from and through stuff like some of those people do, its amazing imo, got lots of respect for people who can pull those stunts off

My point was a bit extreme, but I'm not going to risk breaking limbs or worse just for some excitement. I'm smart enough to know when I'm not coordinated enough to attempt something.

Free running is something I very much enjoiy watching professionals do, and it's something that has been and can be translated to video games quite well. Just because you want to run around doing backflips off of parking garages doesn't mean they shouldn't make a game for those who enjoy the "sport" but don't want to engage in it. Why make any sports game, then? Because they're fun in a different way!

I really liked Getting Up. Mark Ecko's game. But towards the end it got a little repetitive and samey.

Mirrors Edge got slammed in reviews for being shit. Wouldn't bother with that one Surprised

ME does what it does well. Only problem is, it's not free running, it's running on a guided path - very little freedom, or ability to go anywhere that isn't preordained. Occasional split routes, but still the same objective. Meh.

True, but as you said - it does what it does and does it well (if that made sense Very Happy) I enjoyed ME for the story, the fantastic art style, and the free-flowing nature of the game ... though yeah, sometimes, that free-flowing doesn't exactly flow as freely as it could do, as you get lost sometimes and have to stop to get your bearings.

ME was a dissapointment to me, was hoping for an actual "real world" where you could actually perform le parkour and run wherever. Like Pixieking said, the game had a guided path, which for me killed it. Sad

The plus side was the that atmosphere in the game was astoundingly eery yet peaceful and zen-like. ^_^
However the story didn't capture me at all. o.O

Story felt "tacked on" for me.
Like they made the gameplay and the graphics and all and suddenly somebody came in and said "Guys, we forgot something. This beauty needs a story!"
And then they came up with the lamest conspiracy plot they could think of in 5 minutes.
