One thing for sure, by the time ArmA is out in UK, we will most probably have a fixed date or a fixed release window for ArmA US so depending on that time, it indeed might be worth it to import from UK or wait for US.
One cool thing I'm still amazed by; I got shot in the leg and I just couldn't stand, I had to crawl up to a tank, ride it back to my black hawk and fly back to my base to get healed.
It is also important to know that this feature might also become a real bitch, if you get shot in the leg at the beginning of a mission, the rest of the mission will become frustratingly annoying and you might as well just restart.
How do Field Hospitals work?? I placed one on my map. I shoot a fellow in the chest and order him to get Healed at Field Hospital, he gets in there and nothing happens. While if I ask the same injured fellow to get Healed at Medic, it just works! |
I've managed to heal myself at a field hospital fine, its probably just another one of the many bugs If you do get shot early in a mission you just have to hope there's a medic nearby, otherwise you are stuck in a prone position for the rest of the mission.

little statement from BIS>
Original by PLACEBO:
We're an exceptionally small team working on:
Patches for released versions
MP Demo
SP Demo
Dedicated Servers
UK/EU version with extra content and features and such
There is simply no time to run around forum threads acknowledging this, that or the other, if bugs are reported with clear reproduction steps into the wiki (just like I said some time ago in the bug thread) then they will be noticed way more likely than random rantings in a forum thread, if the general consensus is that the flight model is so flawed it's tantamount to a bug then it should be reported as such.

That's the problem with small developers like Bethesda who insist on releasing individual language versions. If they stuck to a global release or at the most a US/EU release then they wouldn't have a problem having to already patch two different versions long before its a finished product. Its stupid. The same happens with the majority of JoWood's games, they release it in Germany, then maybe the rest of Europe and then the US, in a state where it needs patches and each version needs its own patch, its just creating more and more work for developers under enough pressure as it is.

well..
it's three different publishers for different regions, and most importantly, at different times
.cz frst
.de second a month later
EU then a month or two later again
if .cz is in english... how happy do you think the other publishers are when everyone is getting that one instead of theirs?
how do you propose to solve the problem?
it's a shitty deal
but a necessary evil
even more so with differing copy protections
i'm sure .de and EU publishers were happy that .cz went with the universally hated starforce
i don't know the details on what jowood does, but i suspect a similiar affair in some manner

actually it's not the game i don't like its the fact that its overwhelmed by bugs and problems.
i played through the whole campaign and its mediocre at best
and the aviation controls absolutely suck ass.
it's more easy to learn and drive a real jet or
helo then it is in arma.
by the time they fix the amount of bugs and problems there will be
much better games released and many people will forget this crap
existed.
i would enjoy a good shit better then this game
and that is free of charge

hehe i know i made it sound that way because it's true
they done the same thing with flatout 2 first release it to europe then when it gets patched and fixed up a bit it goes out into america.
europe usually gets starforce to which sux.
and i would love to play armed assault when the bugs are gone
i will really enjoy it then especially with modded missions and content.
but how long will all that take?
and it was a verry stupid move for them to make arma in diff versions
why not make one with a selection of language on the install dvd?
lol so mind boggingly stupid what they have done there

Okay I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I've (very nearly) downloaded the German Clone (GRATIS) but I want to know what I need to do in order to patch it, get it's language in English and be able to run it. If someone could quickly recap for me what I need to do and/or download then I'd be very grateful.

Well, I did exactly what Zerstorer said. Using the 0.8 language patch I got from some website through google. Works perfectly, no problems AND OMG what a lovely looking game. It's still Operation Flashpoint we all know and love (from my quick play anyhow) but it looks gorgeous now instead of simply functional.
Also people scared of performance issues need not be. I run the game better than Operation Flashpoint with my settings on the highest. Am I going to lie and tell you it runs perfectly? No of course not, it's very easy to get lagged and slowdown and so forth. I will have to tweak the settings to get the sweet spot (as we had to to do with Operation FLashpoint in the past). But considering the graphical improvements; relatively speaking you can't go wrong.
I was really scared that this would run like a dog, the way people talked about it was as if it were some bugged to hell piece of shit. Well first impressions tell me otherwise. I'm sure it is buggy, but so was OpFlash and that consumed mine and many others lives. But it's totally playable and enjoyable.
They still haven't fixed the elevation bug when shooting over terrain though. Which is a shame as it's far more noticeable now with the improved landmass.
Great stuff, wish I hadn't of waited now

Just waiting for a cracked EXE, the CZ works fine with DT4.08, but it would be nice to ditch the 4GB image!
Originals never fade..... The only reason I bought OFP was the fact that it was CRACKED and I wouldn't have to run around like a German Shepard fetching the CD.

2.13GHz (core 2 duo), 1GB RAM and a NVIDIA 7950 GT (512MB)
I am disappointed in the sound though. Maybe it's my setup but it doesn't seem correct, there's no range between left and right and so on, it's very sharp - so you can hear a chopper one minute and it's out of range the next. I don't understand it and I'm reluctant to put CMS on. This is with an X-Fi btw. Is the sound engine really just this bad? I know it used to give me problems with OpFlash but I was using a turtlebeach then

MAKE SURE that you have hardware acceleration set to OFF for audio. Keep the EAX checked, just disable the hardware accel on audio.
Also, I don't think that ArmA uses the X-fis 128 hardware voices, which is a shame, but maybe some of this shoddy work will be cleaned up with the US reelase. Let's hope so.

Armed Assault French release on February 15
Jeuxvideo.com:
Quote: | The French version of Armed Assault will contain complementary elements: new weapons, additional vehicles and 2 or 3 missions individual. It will release on February 15, 2007. A version collector will be also available in limited quantity. The play is for the moment particularly optimized on the Nvidia charts. |
