Hi!

Yesterday I got a new XBOX 360 in Sweden.
The box is manufactured 2006-06-20 (20 Juny), LOT-nr: 0625, and it have a Samsung dvd-drive. I'm so lucky. Very Happy

It works very fine, and it's not that loud that everyone say it is. Wink

My question is how I can modify this system?

- Can you give me some good URLs and tips and tricks? Smile

I have a NEC ND-3520 DL burner (with a modified firmware so it can handle DVD-ROM bitsetting) and Verbatim DVD+R DL 2,4x discs. I also have a Torx T scewdriverset (T10).

Thank you, xarph.

you can find everything on google in a few seconds...
but anyway, www.xbox-scene.com has a tutorial section.
you first have to open up your xbox and find out what drive version you have.
if your samsung is an old ms25 you're fine, if it's an ms28 it might be a little more complicated...

go to #fw on efnet. They may still have my guide to download.

Your NEC will probably NOT work. Get a Pioneer 117 or LG.

your NEC prolly will work the pioneer 111D and NEC 3550A have been the most reliable burners but ive seen alot of ppl using other NEC burners. With the samsung bitsetting is no longer required as long as its a DVD+R disk and a recent firmware you will be fine (DVD-R dual layers have a fixed layer break which is why they dont work)

Thank you for all the answers, so there's a chance that it'll work on my NEC ND-3520.

I've downloaded this firmware:
------------------------------------------------------
Xtreme firmware 4.2A and 4.2B for TS-H943 Xbox 360 (XBOX360SAM it's included in this release)
------------------------------------------------------
And I'll probably follow this guide there they are using the XBOX360SAM method, but I have another question at this point in the tutorial: "5. Your original firmware will be read and dumped. When you return to the command prompt, power off the Xbox 360, then restart your PC." I wonder where the original firmware will be dumped, on the floppy, or? And in the tutorial they say Xtreme V3, but it's the same principe, right? But this flash method feels so damn easy so It's like unlikey. Razz

What's a stealh mod?

Quote:
Xbox 360 Connection:

Unplug the SATA cable from the back of the Xbox360 Drive. Connect a SATA cable from your PC SATA connection to the back of the Xbox360 Drive. Connect the video cable to the back of the Xbox360. If you do not do this, the Xbox360 will power off at an inappropriate moment (like when flashing). Do not power on the Xbox360, leave it off.

USING X360SAM TO HACK THE SAMSUNG

X360SAM is like a “semi-autopatcher” that is much better than the autoflasher previously recommended. The reason being is that the autoflasher does not work with version 25b and 28 drives, X360SAM does. I call it a “semi-autopatcher” because it requires one reboot. Using X360SAM is basically the same thing as a manual method because it hex edits the original drive key into the Xtreme v3 firmware, just what you would do if you were doing it thee manual method. It has also been updated to include the correct 4000-43FF range suggestd by Sniperkil. This means it will work with all DVD drives, no bricks. Everything is done from DOS, making it faster and easier.

1. Download X360SAM 0.2
2. Download the Xtreme v3 firmware from the usual place
3. Copy Xtreme30.bin to /X360SAM 0.2/Xbox360/SAMSUNG/
4. If your SATA chipset requires a hex-edited MTKFlash, use that instead of the included one in /X360SAM 0.2/Xbox360/
5. Remember that MTKFlash’s .exe and .typ files must be named the same
6. Write down your Xbox 360’s serial number on a piece of paper, you will need it when reading and flashing

X360SAM on a Bootable Floppy Disk:

Make a bootable floppy disk. To do this insert a floppy in your A: drive while in Windows.. Right Click on the A: drive in My Computer. Select “Format” then tick “Create an MS-DOS startup disk”. When it is finished, copy the folders and files from /X360SAM 0.2/Xbox360/ to the floppy disk.

1. At this point, you should have the Xbox 360 disassembled, with a SATA cable connecting your Samsung drive to your PC. Turn off both the Xbox 360 and PC.
2. Insert the bootable floppy you made, power on the PC, but leave your Xbox 360 off. Your PC should boot to a command prompt. When it does, power on your Xbox 360.
3. In the next step, you need to use your Xbox 360’s serial number. The X’s are the 7-digit first part, the Y’s are the 5-digit second part.
4. Type SAMREAD XXXXXXX YYYYY , using your serial number. For example, if my S/N is 5242924 61305, I would type SAMREAD 5242924 61305.
5. Your original firmware will be read and dumped. When you return to the command prompt, power off the Xbox 360, then restart your PC.
6. Your PC will boot from the floppy again, when it gets to the command prompt, power on your 360.
7. Type SAMHACK XXXXXXX YYYYY, using the serial number of your Xbox 360 again.
8. Your drive will be flashed, and when you get back to the command prompt, power off the Xbox 360, and then power off your PC.
9. Put your Xbox 360 back together and test.

I'm going to open the XBOX 360 soon, so I will see if it's a MS25 or MS28 Samsung drive.

I just saw that I have the SAMSUNG MS28 drive, what shoud I do to flash it?

I have this motherboard: ASUS P4P800 Deluxe with the ICH5 SATA chipset.

Hm, I have the VIA VT6410 RAID controller on my motherboard.

It says this in the manual:

Storage:
Supported by South Bridge (ICH5R)
- 2 x UltraDMA100 support for 4 drives
- 2 x Serial ATA with RAID 0 function
Supported by VIA 6410 RAID controller
- 2 x UltraDMA 100 support for 4 drives with RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1 and RAID JBOD

What I can see I have the VT6410 RAID controller, but It doesn't support SATA on the controller. Or?

Wohoo! I fixed it! Very Happy

I bought a new motherboard with the VIA SATA VT8237R Plus chipset. Very Happy

The flash worked like a treat, my SAMSUNG MS28 drive is now flashed and quiet (Xtreme firmware 4.2b).

I burned Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 with my NEC ND-3250 burner and CloneCD, the games works very fine!

I'm so happy! Very Happy

Thanks for all.
