No, incorrect. The American version is v1.8.25817.0 not v1.07. Also, virtual cd does not support MS Vista OS. So, it's not possible to use the german image and virtual cd on a MS vista OS currently.
Also, note the press release that I've posted several posts up about aspyr saying the v1.09 patch makes no different to us version. Meaning, the v1.09 patch already incorporated into the us version of gothic iii.

Well with the U.S. version I had, the exe shows v1.07 when you alt-tab. Also, who gives a fuck about vista

As far as version goes, the US version is 1.08 like I've posted. Here's another source for reference (quoted from wikipedia):
"The North American version incorporated two patches (the first being 1.07) in its initial release at version 1.08"
(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_3)
It does say initial release. So, DeadPL maybe right as well. Asypr may have silently released new retail version with the v1.09 patched.
@cybtropic
There's a lot more people who gives a f**k about vista than you think. Since it incoporates some ideas from the linux kernel. This makes it much more stable than windows xp (non-server version) which is a 5 year old, outdated OS.

Lol, where are all the fanboys that said US release of Gothic III will be completely bug free?
Every review I read of this pos says it has potential, but is infested with annoying bugs.

Bummer! So the US release is crap as well, I was really hoping that was going to make this game playable.

heckknow, you have no idea what you are talking about, do you?
no matter what game version you have you still have to use 1.07 crack, unless you have blind write image or russian/romanian/etc/ gothic because those don't have tages protection

o yea 4,9. IGN is totally unbiased offcourse.
Hey how much did M$ pay IGN to give their games good reviews? anyone? O no, 8,8 on snowblind is accurate even if it takes 6 hours to complete..

How exactly are they biased. Did you actually read the review? They listed everything what was good about the game and what was bad about it. Nothing is biased, everything like it is. And how does it make the game great if it has a lot of hours of play. Id take a good but short game over a long but incredibly bad game anytime. Fear was pretty short, but a great game, i guess you gonna say vivendi payed ign to rate fear higher than it is?

Try comparing same guys review with oblivion review. And after that, try to say that review was unbiased.

Krest, no point in agrguing with idiot fanboys...
Every review says it's infested with bugs... Well, now, THEY ARE ALL BIASED, obviously! Oblivion works just fine... Fucking biased sobs! Oblivion gets a great score because it's a great game, biased sobs!

i said it again like i said it before - i will buy Gothic 3 when the gold version will be made
Yes i have finished this game with the patch but i hate G3 for :
1.ver1.0 is so bug infested that you cannot finish the main quest /one key person is missing , correction is missing becoz those fucking BOARS WILL KILL HIM/
2.HOW ABOUT A SLIDER THAT WILL SET THE SPEEDTREE CACHE /this is the main bug that slowed this game , set it to 1 gig a this game has allways a stable 35 fps / , no you must set it manualy in the .ini file
3.o and the Nr1 hate thing - still with the new patch you will get the memory leak that destroys your save
Thank you Joowood for KILLING THIS GAME

Indeed lnatan25. And i dont know why he brings oblivion into this. When oblivion was released it was a finished product, it was done like the devs wanted for it to be. Combat wasnt broken, and it wasnt just LMB, LMB, LMB and so on, it involved some kind of strategy.
And i dont necesarry agree with the overall score they gave to gothic, its more like a 6 to me, but in the review he listed exactly what went bad with the game. They did say the game has a lot of going for it, but the bugs and other shit just kills it. With which, like many, i totally agree.

Hahaha, did we play the same game?

I dont know what was yours like, i remember mine had a block, a quick attack, slow but powerfull attack. I guess you were just bashing LMB all the time. I on the other hand used a little bit of strategy. For example, block if enemy is stunned from the block go behind him and do a swift attacks, if not, then just do one powerful and block again. Also you could try blocking and then running and using a bow.
In gothic its all about LMB, whnever i tried to use something else i was lying face down in the dirt. But thats my personal experience.

I guess it depends on what character you're playing. But facing any creatures I just pummeled them, strategy is a waste of time. Against humans a bit of strategy is useful though.
But it's the same way in gothic, at least for me. You have the stab, powerful attack, quick attack, normal attack and block. A stab followed by a powerful attack knocks them on the floor, where you can follow up with a normal attack when they get up etc..

It does depend on the person. You are clearly enjoying that game, which is good. I on the other hand think its broken, and a big disapointment compared to gothic 2 which was awsome. Everytime i fought something i was trying to get most fun out of it, i just dont see LMB clicking all the time as fun.

Geez, Gothic 3 worked just fine for me, but oblivion didn't. OH MAN DIFFERENT HARDWARE!? WHAT WILL THEY COME UP WITH NEXT!?

Finished? Hardly. Regarding combat, yeah, it sure was deep! You had to press two buttons! LMB and RMB! MORE DEEP THEN PACIFIC OCEAN!

A brain replacement, so you could put something in that void in your head?
Oblivion wasn't perfect (I didn't love the combat system that much, but it was servicable. Obviously it was miles better than Gothic 3's, so no argument there.
It's the same deal again, a stupid fanboy who sees only what he wants to. Go click LMB 10 times just to be killed by a boar and STFU!

im just curious if anyone has lost any sleep or went to their friends house pissed off cause of some e-argument they had on here. Doesnt seem like some of this board can keep their opinion just that, they try to make them facts and if someone doesnt agree, they start going into seizure of irrelevant posts typing in caps throwing a fit.
I think the only game I've enjoyed from jowood was Neighbors from Hell o.0 everything else has just been a pain in the ass from them. Wonder if their linked to atari

Lol let them enjoy it, because of true fanbois jowood can get some money, i dont think anyone else would buy. I did want to buy it, but not after i tried it. So with money they get from fanbois they can release a good patch to fix lots of shit (the patch will need to be HUGE). I like the world in gothic, its huge and beautiful, but thats the only plus i can see thus far.

Well. Looks like we found something we can agree on. Oblivion wasn't perfect. In fact, it was very mediocre game, with lots of gameplay flaws. At least Gothic 3 problems are fixable with patches.
