ye well the problem is you need the arrow keys to point the ball right or left of the field.
so you have at your left hand, w,a,s,d etc. at your right hand the mouse and then you need your nose or something else to play the arrow keys.
If you port a game over to PC, they should at least expect people to play it with a keyboard...

hdtv00 fuck you m8. Buying a controller to play a PC game is BOLLOX. If they port it, it should be playable on PC with PC controls and no 3rd party hardware. So keep your console kiddie lets buy anything because otherwise i cant play bullshit for yourself. thanks.

you don't need the arrow keys for that, you can do it with the mouse. just hold the button (w,a,s or d) and *move* the mouse in the direction you want the ball to go.

Also, game is unplayable to me as well, also due to the games FSAA settings, same as eierfeile and Teniak, running at 12x10, with FSAA completely disabled in nVidia Control Panel for TopSpin 2. Makes the game look awful too, graphics all wishy-washy, like looking through frosted window at it, like me games to look SHARP!
Can run Oblivion with no slowdown and yet cant run a jocking tennis game? Ridiculous
Specs:
Intel P4 3.06

Its not the point of having a controller or not but it seems you fail to see that so i wont even reply if you go on a "cheapass, buy a gamepad rant" again.
For others who try to understand, My point is that the game is ported over to PC. It should work decently on a BASIC PC. This means it should at least work on a PC without all the gamepads, eye tools whatever shit they sell. But no, if you want to play this PC game decently you gotta buy a gamepad. hahaha, talking about insanity in this world. If thats the case they should keep it on xbox console only and not bother to port it to PC.
So an idiot who walks in the store and sees this tennis game thinks, hey i can play it on PC. (since it doesnt say "gamepad required" on the box). Comes home installs it and lost his money OR he does what hdtv00 does goes back to the store and buys a gamepad and ends up with spending more money then he initially thought. If you like to be walked over like that, fine by me.
Oh, and sport games wise, i am doing fine with my keyboard on fifa, nhl, nba on high levels. At least they have decent keyboard + gamepad support because thats a requirement for PC games. If you fail to see that your loss, i wont buy a gamepad because a game wants me to i like my freedom in choice.

By that logic instead of changing over to CD/DVD games should still come packaged on floppy.
Keyboard support severely hampers games like this because the control system is not meant to be so rigid and forgiving that it can be played comfortably on it (that's so 1990). Instead, the controls are now a part of the games experience. It's supposed to be natural with various degrees of fidelity. Placing a keyboard in the equation means changing those underlying mechanics and risk hurting the game as a result. Furthermore porting a game is rarely given much attention so the people doing it are not going to be skilled or bothered enough to try and do it justice.
A gamepad is a neccessity for these types of games and if you think you can play NHL, FIFA and so on with your keyboard you're only deluding yourself. Yes it's TECHNICALLY possible but no it is not playing the same game that those of us using gamepads are.

Why are gamepads associated with consoles? How is a joystick different as far as its "PCness "is concerned? The Atari had joysticks. There are controllers made for PCs. They're both peripherals that have PC versions and games that pretty much require them. Flight sims need joysticks. Racing sims need wheels. Sports sims need analog thumbsticks. Big f'n deal. Buy one or go play pong with your keyboard.

Just about every decent game created since the mid 90's as required a gfx card, therefore does not work on a basic PC.
Yeah, crappy games the lot of 'em.
Point is if you're playing games a "basic" PC will not do the job. You need to actually pull out the wallet, blow of the dust and actually spend some cash.
Personally I have a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2.
Great piece of equipment, and every bit as worthwhile an investment as my gfx card, but an hella lot cheaper.

Game is amazing....I just wish the graphics were a little bit "crisper" any way to get rid of the "blurry" effect? Hope you guys know what I'm talking about. Topspin 1's graphics were more crisp than Topspin2 even though Topspin 2 looks better.
