okay sooooo I am over here on the east coast... it's almost 5 AM. The Nintendo Wii was supposed to be available about 2 hours ago. I have one question for the employee's of Amazon.com and Nintendo of America.

WHY DO YOU HATE US PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO YOUR FALSE WORDS?

It's Nintendo. You have no chance with a smooth release.
Same with Sony with their crap early build quality. NEVER buy Sony when it's first out. They're still learning how to make that product.

In my experience the best way to acquire the latest games consoles smoothly and quickly is to avoid the internet, avoid the phone and just goto your nearest game / electronics store and ask them to pre-order it. Put a deposit down if need be beforehand. Then when when the release day arrives, goto to the store, pay the balance and collect. Very Happy

Of course this will not be possible if you dont have a local game / electronics store or you are unable to get to it for whatever reason.

I don't think you can put things on hold even with a deposit. The stores don't want to keep track of the deposits etc... I don't buy electronics online, I don't trust the shipping.

You can over here in the UK. My local Gamestation takes deposits and pre-orders on all the new consoles and biggest games so unless they dont get the stock you will always get the goods on launch day Very Happy

Are you a gamer, pistolshrimp?

Today I wasted 4 hours of my life driving to a shop, getting lost, finding the shop only to be told the product was mail order only. The site gave no indication that certain brands are not stocked.

Some may like online shopping but whan I buy something electrical I want to poke it and press the buttons. Laughing

Not like you guys. I am a game console scavanger. I am saving for a 50 inch plasma or LCD TV with Hi-def.

Imac's are not gamers first choice either. My PC gaming experience is going to the stores and being taunted by the covers of games that my mac can't play Sad I have serveral mac ones tho. Imac G5 have a shitty ATI card too. (from what I have been hearing - ) I have to do something about that. More money.

Game console Scavenger?

scav‧en‧ger  /ˈskævɪndʒər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[skav-in-jer]

2.a person who searches through and collects items from discarded material.

So you just collect the older consoles? You dont play them? No new ones?

Care to elaborate?

No, just that I play other peoples. There is a group of us that go away in the winter together and we bring them up with us, plus they are DVD players. The TV set up there is 20 yrs old and so is the VCR. It is amazing that we can even get them to work on this TV. Adaptor upon adaptor.

Also my friends son has all of them and when they go on holidays I keep them at my house in case their house gets broken into. Now I am kinda nervous about that. I don't trust his mom a bit when it comes to money. I could see he sending me something broken and then saying I did it.

that is what I meant by scavanger.

I still have the first nintendo that came out tho and possibly the Atari too. Before your time Very Happy

Hmmm maybe! I was 4 years old when the NES first appeared in 1983!

The Atari 2600 definitely was before my time in 1977!
