I would say the 7300. The 1600 pro is underpowered.

"Clearly any game based on the Doom 3 engine is going to be more NVIDIA friendly and this was the case with the GeForce 7300GT"

"when it came to overclocking the 7300GT was hurt badly, falling 29% behind the X1600 Pro in performance"

"the 7300GT was 56% slower in F.E.A.R without being overclocked and 22% slower once both cards were overclocked. Then to top it all off, the 7300GT had a 66% performance drop against the X1600 Pro in X3: Reunion."

"it is safe to say the X1600 Pro is a superior product in terms of performance, even if overclocking is on the agenda. For about $10-15 extra, the X1600 Pro should be a worthwhile investment versus the GeForce 7300GT"

Radeon x1600PRO wins!!!! Long live ATI!!

Taken from: http://www.techspot.com/review/7-nvidia_geforce_7300gt_vs_ati_radeon_x1600pro/

Its so many Nvidia fanboys here so i felt i had to post something, not that i am a big ATI fan since i buy the best that i can afford whether it is ATI or Nvidia doesnt matter to me. Although there might be benchmarks out there that says something else, this altleast one source that says that x1600 is the better card.

being a fanboy of some graphics cards company is hands-down THE LAMEST THING YOU CAN BE!

x1600pro clearly wins since its a MIDrange card while the 7300gt is a LOWrange and was meant to compete with x1300pro.

correct,x1600 should be compared to 7600gs/gt not to 7300,i thought that would be obvious Rolling Eyes

driver support is very poor, when i had 9800pro i had to install for each set of games particular drivers to run them smooth without any glitches
seems to me based on none blinded fanboyz unbiased opinion nothing has changed,so never again,no matter how good hardware will be,software will lack in optimization, ati was born with this "prosthetic leg"
with nvidia i install new drivers only NGO ones coz of overclocking & stuff only when i want to see if there is fps increase, almost never coz of graphical glitches,so i'll stay with a best for now,no fanboy stuff, only using things which work & practical,i don't care about namez like many do Wink

I also had 9800pro and i never had any such problems with glitches in each set of games. The only reason i updated catalyst was to get a boost in fps in some games and that didnt have to be done very often, i think i updated every third month or so.

What kind of particular drivers are you talking about? Can you give me some examples or links.

Yes, DRIVER PROBLEMS... which ATI CLEARLY had around the time of the 9800. Heck, one of their driver revisions even stopped many people's DVDs from working!

Dunno which one is better, but i've always prefered nvidia. Ive had loads of both nvidia and ati cards and I always end up using the nvidia cards most. So I guess ill stick to that.

I still use my 9800Pro. No probs with drivers ever. I update them maybe every 2-3 months. Sometimes longer. This card still runs the latest games just fine on a 3.4 pc. Very happy with it. My next card will be a DirectX10 card. The 9800pro Im sure will last until they come out.

The 9800pro is kinda old now, i gues by the latest games you mean games from 2004-2005 Smile Sure new games start with the 9800pro but its not playable. I gues it depends on what grafic settings you run the games in Smile

Even at low-low you won't get a half-ass-descent framerate with that stoneaged card.
