Source is getting major updates in the following months. There are plans for DX10 for the future as well.

Source doesn't need updating, it needs totally replacing with an engine that can support decent size maps rather than those pathetically puny postage stamp-sized pieces of crap that are all it can manage at present. Crappy engine, flawed, always will be, why waste more time on it?

them 3 vids... biggest waste of a 380mb download... remind me not to do that again...

source engine runs great, but i have to agree... i would love to see that engine handle battlefield type maps... basically... battlefield 2 on the source engine... so my computer would feel better... and get rid of steam... and get more polygons in there... ut04 type looking levels... hl2/css still looks like a rectangle if its supposed to be a circle... blocky as fuck lol...

actually now that i think about it... give me battlefield 2 on the cryengine... YEAH!... even the first one kicks ass... far cry has the hugest levels Smile... and that shit runs sooooooooooooooooooooo smoooooth...

but why kid myself... that will never happen Sad

Lol! Fanboy? No, it doesn't really serve it's purpose unless you like frequent loading screens or long loading times (ridiculous on a fast rig too). Maybe it serves a purpose to make Valve lots of money without really trying too hard but that is all. Maybe you think the best bit is how the loading screens chop up each level into nice little chunks, the cherry on top being how enemies can't pursue you across loading points? You might like that, maybe it gives you a breather, I think it's lazy and crass and totally destroys any sense of immersion.

Email them? I think they know - and as long as they're raking in the cash I don't think they care.

Valve and the fat Gabe are just morons :/ . How can they promote the episode principle if they force their customers to wait for one year between each one Rolling Eyes

yeah game can be fun when playing in a squad with friends... but that doesn't change the fact that the engine blows.

i liked it much better then hl2. If they keep renovating halflife like they did in hl2: ep1 i m sold on the next eps. If they throw in a better rendering engine inbetween, the better =)
