it would be wise to test some direct3d performance now, to compare them to xp ones.

anyone so nice to do that? Smile

It would be insanely unwise (read: moronity) to test d3d now, because there are no proper drivers! The ones that are out form NV and Ati are crap and not optimized for performance.

The 64bit version is crap, very little compability - but it isn't on the DVD afaik. You can't have a 64-bit OS that supports 32-bit applications, that's just the way things work Razz

So why then does XP x64 run nearly all of my apps just fine? The 64 bit OS supports the 32 bit apps because the chips are 64bit + x86 compatitble. If Vista64 is buggy then that is M$'s fault, not some fundamental impossibility

Honestly, No performance driver has been released from either ATI or Nvidia, so if you plan to play games on this system expect seriously reduced performance compared to XP, especially if you're using an Nvidia 7950GX or any other kind of SLI as the current Nvidia drivers for Vista doesn't even support SLI, just as a preview of the technology.
Being one of the first to install an MS OS is really quite laughable especially at this stage.

How the f**k do I delete this?
I fixed the boot loader to WinXp, but there is NO way to delete Program files and Windows directory on the partition where I installed it. I keep getting this error when trying to remove the read only atribute: http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1968/untitled1er4.png

I tried with WinXp in safe mode, Knoppix and even NTFS4DOS and still I cant delete it.

WTF!?!

Hi!

I've overwritten the 2 files and entered the serial, then MS thanked me for using genuine windows. Very Happy

But I still see this in the corner of the screen:
Evaluation copy. Build 6000

In the control panel it says it's activated.
Do I have to worry?

BTW Vista rocks, Win Defender is gr8. Waiting for office and other softwares.

How long is that to do? If i install it i will be installing it on the same partition as i have windows xp on so i won't be able to format it. So how long would setting the permissions take?

Thanks Smile
