(yes, I don't have a HDTV) |
Can I just get a response to that, thanks.
BTW, can anyone confirm if the visceral violence of the early builds made it through to the end? I'm speaking mainly of the ability to shoot flesh off the bone. I'm not exaggerating either, I saw a video (slowed down) to show the violence and flesh was removed from the legs, chest and head of the locust, revealing the bone underneath. It looked incredible.
Until last night, I actually forget about that little feature. Can anyone confirm or dispel?

Just thought I would give you guys my thoughts on this game (been playing it for about 2 hours ish) graphics are brilliant mainly the lighting but also the framerate is rock solid, for the guy saying it looked washed out go to options and change the video settings you can choose one called vibrant which is very "not" washed out (for me I like it on default) the game itself plays sweet it feels really polished to me like when I first played Halo I cant imagine anyone not loving the chainsaw as it is f**king sweet the blood effect is like marmite your either gonna love it or hate it I would say I like it, also this game DOESNT perform the Fall update so no need to worry about the e66 error anyone that says it does is lying.
Great game so far plus it looks to have replayability as their are achievments for finishing it on all 3 difficulty levels but the last difficulty (insane) isnt unlocked until you finish the game therefor you have a reason to play it twice atleast, plus it has cop-op which I like alot mor games should do a single player cop-op imo.
I have played this on my Samsung LCD and my standard crt Sony tv and it looks great on both also the sound is phenominal through 5.1 it really is well done like a movie.
If it is still as good when I have finished it I think when it comes out in the UK I may buy it!
Thanks.

Exactly, you can't get better at a game if it's constantly thrusting you into new control schemes or applying new gameplay mechanics. There would also be no sense of continuity.
Imagine a game where you are moved to a different vehicle each level, which controls completely differently from the last, your facing completely different enemies and you never go back to previous vehicles/enemies. It would be rather shit.
That type of game is like the old arcade games of yore, where they'd try to force 5 games into some sort of coherency. But theres no investment, it would be a play for 10 minutes kind of game.
I'm suprised, and pleased! For a game that created such high expectations, and was hyped as incredibly as this one it's suprising people arn't complaining it doesn't tie their shoelaces and make them irresistible to women. Has a premier game actually lived up to the hype for the first time!?
More opinions welcome.

The graphics were of course far less but the gameplay engine is almost identical to GOW ????!!!!!??!?!?!! Duck en Cover, Shoot, Forward. Shoot End Boss , Run, dive ....GOW is hyped as the new best thing but the game engine is not new at all if you played Killswitch. GOW is still a good game though and I will finish it but it just doesn't feel "that" new cause it's done before

I actually really enjoyed killswitch, only the really basic graphics got to me. So this isn't particularly bad news for me personally.
Although I get what you're saying, in three years the only thing thats changed in games is the graphics. There has been no evolution of gameplay. Sad really. Although hopefully we'll soon start seeing enough innovation from those adventurous developers to give the market a kick up the arse, as delivered by Deus Ex in the past. I think Dark Messiah has some merit with regards to this.

Ok.. I enjoyed Killswitch.. think I played on Xbox but I cant remember. I also gotta say that Im enjoying the hell out of THIS game.
I just started playing and decided to go with the "Hardcore" difficulty since the "Insane" difficulty is locked before you have completed it (I think). Anyway... Im getting my ass HANDED to me. My squad is constantly outflanked, outnumbered, outgunned (you get the picture)... so how anyone can claim that the AI is weak mystifies me. Though I AM constantly cursing at my AI squadmates, as they seem to be merely distractions for the Locusts and not a real threat. Oh they occasionally down a baddie from long-range, and Ive seen them chainsaw a guy or two (which is killer) but they just make poor pathfinding choices sometime. For instance, charging headfirst into a machinegun nest or the like. Though it doesnt happen EVERY time.. they suffer from occasional lapses of sanity.
Perhaps its just the harder difficulty setting, which leads me to believe that the "Insane" mode will be next to impossible without a real-life counterpart. Since I havent tried multiplayer or Co-op (which is supposed to be incredible) yet, Ill consider them icing on what is already one motherfucking, cocksucking, donkeypunching, shitkicking, good cake. For anyone not sold yet, this game will definately increase your cock size.
(Man I gotta stop coming here when Im fucked up)

If you havent figured it out yet and what I think you are referring to is actually what you are referring to, the ring of blood is your health.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

I think this is going to be the first game I complete fully since HL2.. Gothic 3 would of been that if it hadn't of performed so badly on my machine.. this has also kicked Dark Messiah out of my mind too.. The game is simply awesome.. the tactics on some of the larger scenes are great, it gives you a good sense of how a fight would really happen, no overly powered bad guys or overly powered hero's.. every takes a kicking, people die, you die.. its just perfect in my eyes.
Love it. 9.5/10

Oh by the way.. dont give the crown to Killswitch just yet, as far as I remember it was just a rehash/remix on Winback, which was a Nintendo 64 title. For those of you counting.. yes its even older than Killswitch. SHOCKING!
Now go play the game god intended you to play, Gears of War
P.S. For those of you REALLY keeping score... there is no god.

Can we please stop the discussion on how people download, this is NOT the PC Games section. Who cares anyway, don't ruin the thread.

If you get the active reload right, you reload much faster and apparently your shots are more powerfull until you reload again. The timing is very easy. I can hit it every time.
