They'll probably drop a patch sooner or later to accommodate you X series owners. I dunno why they don't allow a SM2 revert if you don't have a SM3 capable card.

I mean all your missing is Parallax Mapping, HDR, Tone Mapping, Maybe some shadowing techniques, All in all its just HDR thats lacking and I can do without HDR in most of the games i play anyway.

Only if ATI pays them as much as nVidia did. Laughing

BTW: You may be interested to know that SM 3.0 still does not support HDR, it's still a simulation like in Half-Life 2 (which worked great with SM2.0 by the way). It is closer to the real thing but it ain't it yet.

[flame shield up] The only device that is capable of rendering true HDR images at the moment is the Xbox 360

Wrong! The only thing from keeping SM2 card from rendering true HDR is floating point blending of FP16 targets. floating point blending is mandetory in SM3, and SM3 CAN render HDR the way it is supposed to.

so Guys, i got a x800xl - pci-e and i know it doesnt work. But i downloaded the game anyway since i have bought a new one (coming this week) anyway, i tried to start, and it went well untill i tried to load a map *Crash* with the Message "trying set non-registered vertex shader"



Maybe i can disable that in some way?
