The newsgroup thread was real helpfull, so figured I would ask about some newsreader app suggestions.
Started with newsleecher and tonight installed NewsbinPro. Its been years since I last messed with newsgroups so I'm having to relearn it as I go, but I'm having fun with it so its cool.
The main issue I'm having so far with both programs is sifting through the "huge" groups. I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm having a helluva time figuring out how to only DL headers from from say last 10 days rather than full retention of my service. Its taking foverever just to get to Oct. lol
Anyway, figured I would hit up for some advice on what some of your favorite readers are.

There is an option in Newsleecher to limit the articles to download. Go to Options->Download->Headers.
If you are too lazy to sort through the huge groups manually, just use www.newzbin.com (yes, they cost a little, but not much).

I dunno about Binsearch.info and its usability. I've tried to use it in the past and it almost never comes up with the stuff I'm looking for, even if I know the header name and location. There were couple of other usnet indexing/search sites before, must of them shut down recently. The only valid alternative I can suggest is newzbin.com. Although you have to pay to be able to download nzb files, it's really cheap. If i remember correctly it's around 2usd per month or even two.

Another option could be to go with the Supersearch feature in Newsleecher (if you paid for it).

Newsleecher user here, as per Parallax_ suggestion, just limit the number of headers to download. Or give the group update your full bandwidth, doesnt take long that way.
