I never said I can't play it, lol, nor that I had any major issues running (as in clicking the EXE and selecting options in the menu and UI). You see, you assumed I had problems because I'm repeatedly talking about performance. When I speak of issues, I speak about what everyone is experiencing. The comment about the fanboys was a rant about fanboys in general, not only the Gothic 3 fanboys.
I do however blame developers if a game is not optimized, and Gothic 3 is not. It if requires 2GBs to run, it's not optimized! Especially when a game with the same engine is out and runs much better on much weaker systems, I say with 100% certainty as a developer, it's not optimized.
I too blame developers for crappy gameplay and bad AI, which has nothing to do with the system the game is running. If it ain't the developers' fault, then whose is it? Is it mine, for asking too much? For crying out loud, listen to what idiot CEO is saying. You might think they have reinvented god. Just watch the boar video (And don't say Oblivion had much better AI, it sucked as well).
But lets face the truth, shall we? You will never change your fanboy views and I will never change my anti-fanboys views. Let's leave it at that. |

I really can't wait for NWN2 to come out, either... so all of you idiots will go clambering to get your fix of totally bland, boring, stiff, uninspired, rehashed, cookie-cutter environment, D&D sludge... and leave this thread alone in the process.

Gothic 3 is special,but it was totally fucked up by jowood.How can these people create such a beautifull game,with huge enviroments,intelligent AI and good gameplay and ruin it with bad optimisation,bugs,crashes,broken quests,etc,etc.
JoWood are pricks.The gothic series is their biggest cashcow and you`d think that they could exploit it better,at least for money`s sake.
In spite of the bugs,the major slow downs,memory leaks and what not,i really like gothic 3.
I`m just pissed off that gothic3 isn`t going to sell as good as NFS:Carbon,Dark Messiah,NWN2 or any other hyped game because 90% of the casual gamers don`t enjoy spending days foraging through forums for tweaks and patches.

Gothic 3 is a great game, and yeah I'm a fanboy, and yes it's bugged, but not bugged enough to stop me from playing it. I got about 40-50h into the game, and I haven't even left Myrtana yet. Oblivion got boring after 60th hour, yet I still don't feel any boredom from gothic, even with the constant frustrations... I can't wait to finish it, then patch it, then play it again.

You must be new to computer gaming. Jowood along most of the other German/Austrian developers and publishing companies are known to release only the buggiest games possible. You always have to wait at least 6 months for a couple of patches untill you can really play their games.

I keep on looking into this thread, hoping that people who actually play the game would write and discuss stuff, and to participate. But every time i get dissapointed. This has just turned into a rant-flame-party.

Nothing to else to do... New FEAR is shit, NFS demo is OMG SHIT, and SC:DA is MIA. Battlefield is fine, but without MP it gets boring quickly. Finished Dark Crusade. Dark Messiah is still downloading. Nothing to do but bitch, lol... And "Anger" is my middle name.

I've yet to try this patch, can't be bothered with all the Virtual CD crap just now - just wondering, those of you with a decent spec that had performance problems before, is there a substantial improvement?

You know the sort of loading lag you get when exploring a new area? That is greatly reduced. The general performance is the same, at least for me.
