Their reponse to that is "do you go hunting with just a knife, no you take a rifle". Yeah ofcourse, and you probably take the same rifle when you go hunting orcs, goblins, and exploring caves to loot some treasure.

My point was that it's playable between the pauses, and the pauses only really happen when running distances through the environment. That's good enough for me.

Have you ever thought that armor, a shield, and a really sharp object should be sufficient protection from a wolf? |
or even a boar? D: i fight all the monsters with a bow, because i know if they get one hit off, they'll keep hitting and i'll either be dead or seriously fucked up. |
Wolf, boar, etc.
If I had to choose right now whether I'd rather fight a wild animal with a long blunt object or a really sharp sword, well, I think the realistic answer is obvious. GUT THAT BITCH!

Oh lol sorry tzen, it just sounded so stupid if you read it. Cuz for me, it is stuttering like 80% of the time. The one positive thing about oblivion and loading time when entering a cave, is that its completely separate level so it ran very smooth, unlike in gothic, its pretty much the same stuttering as you experience on the outside.

Yeah, but it just seemed really silly that every single cave in Oblivion has a door for an entrance. I'd rather some of them just have an invisble wall entrance you walk through that then initiates the loading. The interior (looking into the cave from the outside) could look black/dark, and the exterior (looking out of the cave from the inside) like sunlight(like in the sewer in the beginning/darkness(night) from the inside).
Anyone else sometimes pick up items in Gothic 3 that don't ever show up in the inventory?

Its just a matter of taste, ofcourse if i had a very powerful rig, i wouldnt want any loadings. But seeing how freaking long it takes for g3 to load, thank god it doesnt have any doors.

Ill take a quick load and then a silky smooth gameplay over constant nonstop stuttering.

If I remember correctly Gilden is the center for artifacts and excavations and houses the orc leader shaman, try to get his favor.
Or head north looking for Xardas.
(Every orc shaman/leader knows something about him, Silden is a good place to start)
Perhaps destroy the last rebel camps and ultimatively kill king Rhobar?
(Crushing the rebel resistance that is)

Don't know if that can be fixed but I'll see what I can do, but there's quite a few options in the INI wich controls view distance, culling distance, level of detail, vegetation, depth of field, cell distance and rendering.
Guess one will have to increase them all to see how it works.
ObjectDetails.
DistanceHigh.
DistanceLow.
Render.
Camera.
VegetationAdmin.
Entity.ROI
Those should be all settings that affect view distance and quality of far distance objects.
For that screenshot I TRIPPLED (+300%) all those settings and water still looks ugly.
(Foggy day btw or end of rendering distance, should see further, may have increased other settings as well)
The only setting I did not change was this one:
Render.PrefetchGridCellSize=10000
(Ran out of memory during game load with that one doubled)
EDIT: Or perhaps editing water directly?
(The "GothicIII\Data\Materials\ShaderMaterial\Effects" folder )

How do you stop the white screen flashes when you face certain directions?

Have not tested what would happen if you kill all humans inside a village but I did get a quest success message after taking Ardea for the second time.
(Killing all the new rebels that now occupied that first city)
And yes you can kill everyone but be carefull when killing important quest related NPC's such as Xardas and the king. (Rholand?, Rhobar?)

You guys all talk about animals killing you, are you all playing on hard difficulty or what? Because when I played (on medium) no animal ever killed me, they just knock you down and you can stand up again after a few seconds.

most of u proly know this already but for those still wondering, here's how to start using magic. first off u need some 'Learning Points' (LP), press C and check how many you have in the top left of the screen. You'll need about 30 LP to get your first spell and about 2k in gold.
first off u'll need to get ur 'Ancient Knowledge' up to level 25. To do this, goto the rebel camp and talk to sebastian. choose to learn about ancient knowledge and then get the 2nd option, costs 250 and 5LP. you'll need to do this about 4 times until your ancient knowledge is up to level 25. now exit the rebel camp and goto the first orc village to the east (i forget the name of it). Just outside the Orc village, amongst the trees, you should find a statue. 'talk' to it, choose to learn about ancient magic and u will have 5 spells on offer. You need to make sure (by checking your spellbook) that you have the required ancient knowledge level before the statue will teach you the spell (not to meantion 5LP's and 1k gold per spell). You should be able to learn the 'poison' spell first off, closely followed by the lightning.
Hope this helps some of u, enjoy
