Water is all pink for me when I turn on the shaders, and performance (when building stuff), as mentioned in gamespot's review, is pretty bad. Radeon 9800pro here. Great game thou Smile

I dont have the pink water but I too have the sluggish gameplay when building stuff.... Also When putting the shader to anything above low gives me that same stuttering even when not building anything. X1600XT here...

And just had my first crash after 20 minutes of gametime.

Other then that, great game!

Crashed after 30 minutes of play. Except that, so far so good, although it looks too simplistic as far as ecomics and building are concerned.

same here crashed about 30 mins in, also id say this is like a very cut down version of railroad tycoon 1-2-3 with nicer graphics ... bit disappointed tbh as railroad tycoon transpot tycoon etc are some of my favourite games ever.

edit : geforce 6800 btw not ati

The automatic pathfinding done by the signals sucks. As far as I could see you could only build trainplatforms servicing up to three tracks per city and you have no ability at all to influence the signals. Thus I get regular lock ups of trains. I would have loved a more detailed signal system like it is being used in TTD.

Otherwise the game is pretty fun, love the graphics. The difficulty level seems to be pretty low though. I started a game on Tycoon (although without oppontents) and managed to get the highest rating in the list when I retired after 2 hours.

Crashes are not that frequent (although they occur). The most annoying one is the one that occurs when I enter the options menu. If the game crashes then I have to delete my settings files to make it start again.

Yep, the signals are poorly implemented. I am not sure how the game desides where to add signals but it does a poor job resulting in trains having to wait for a long time before they can continue. I could've solved a lot of these problems by adding just a single signal...

Also the difficulty level is waaaaay too low. I played at tycoon with 3 opponents and had to buy em out before 1950 (started in 1850 if I remember correctly)... I was in full control of all three opponents by 1910 and at the end I 'retired and became president of the united states'.

After you buy out the competition the fun factor kind of degrades a lot, and while you can choose not to buy them out, the fact that you can gives you the feeling of not getting any real competition...

Too bad Mad

Except in this case, the gold keeps falling onto my feet, making them hurt. I like the game. There is some nifty ideas in it, but some things are just plain annoying. We had a multiplayer game running tonight until it crashed on us. No problem right? There is an autosave. Except when you try to load your autosave, the game crashes while setting up. Corrupting the savefile.

Just feels too simplistic. I would have expected a more detailed and complex game.

Apart from that, it's okay.

I agree, this game like many others lately have been noobified to appeal to a broader audience.
Personally I prefer more complex games with some micro management and stuff, but it's still a fun game, I just doubt I'll be playing it for long.

After quite a few hours of playing Railroads! I got fed up with the crappy AI routing, automatic signal placement and the inaccurate track laying. After the "Oooh shiny detailed graphics!" effect wears off you start missing TTD.

Hi,

I think the game is pretty cool and funny ... well, I'm completely new to those railroad managing games (I only played games of civ- and simcity-series) Wink
But now I'm tired of the game because of crashes every 20-30 minutes of playtime Sad I will try some newer forceware drivers later today though.
Question to ppl with similar problems: Which type of graphic adapters and which driver versions do you use? I have a GF 6600GT (pci-e) and currently use the official nvidia driver v9131).

Well after playing this for a few hours have to say im very disappointed.

It looks lovely and graphics are nicely polished but.. the gameplay is very dull. Theres no substance to the game at all... Feel like all im doing is laying down track, and even then theres just two options for that.. single track and dual!

I find trains getting stuck due to having no control over the signals. As someone else has said in this thread there is a big lack of control, a game like this NEEDS options and control.

Oh and what the hell are sky scrapers doing in 1871??..

An ok game but could of been alot better... gonna see if i can find RT3

What is TTD?

Transport Tycoon Deluxe, by Chris Sawyer. Have a look at:

http://www.openttd.org

This is an excellent open source version of the game.

If you are interested in playing, you might want to have a look at this link too, since there is a possibility to download the necessary files from the original TTD (graphics files).

Is it only me who got fuckin low fps?
It's at 10-12 all the time.
Sometimes it drops to 3.
No change in fps if I change any graphic settings.

I hate you.
