"Nachdem bereits vor zwei Tagen das erste Update zum neuen Mehrspieler-Shooter Battlefield 2142 veröffentlicht wurde und nach diesem Patch immer noch häufige Abstürzte bei vielen Spielern auftraten, hat der Publisher Electronic Arts in der Anleitung zum Patch nun zu der Deinstallation des Sicherheits-Updates KB917422 für Windows XP aufgerufen. Dieses wichtige Sicherheits-Update löse mehrere Fehler im Spiel auf und sollte somit deinstalliert werden.
Wir können euch jedoch nicht zur Deinstallation raten, da man durch diese Maßnahme nicht mehr gegen aktuelle Viren-Angriffe aus dem Netz geschützt ist und man folglich eine weitere Sicherheitslücke öffnet. Am besten solltet ihr auf ein neues Update warten und den aktuellen Patch nicht installieren. Somit könnt ihr wenigstens Battlefield 2142 auf Servern spielen, die noch unter der alten Update-Version laufen."
Sorry German very loose translation.
Basically it says:
Since the 1st patch released 2 days ago ppl are reporting more and more crashes. Now EA includes a recommendation in the latest read me for the patch that tells you to DEINSTAL!!! A Windows security update " KB917422" This DEINSTALATION will help to solve a lot of the problems in the game.
THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! Your computer will not be protected against certain threats after this deinstallation. The best is to wait for a new patch and basically play on servers still using the old version (no patch)
I just don’t understand why EA does this...have they lost all fracking sanity!

Unlocks would rock, so incredible anoying when you play lan with a couple of bots - the bots keep throwing grenads (and btw, they would do really good results in the olympics..never seen anyone throw something as far and accurate as they do! lol)
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I got my key from Zest, can test if it works though.
I got the clone cd downloaded, I burned to DVD using Blindwrite 6, but it still asks me to insert the disk when i try to launch the game? Anyone know what to do? Is there a certain option I use when burning like ISO image? I did see something like that, i left it on auto.

Have you tried simply mounting it with DTools? Sure I saw someone say that worked with this release.

Nah, I used the latest version of D-tools, you get a don't send error by mounting the smaller file, by mounting the actual images with BF 2142 data on you get like cannot find setup.ini.
Same thing with Alcohol 120%.

It for sure don't run using DT. Burning now with BW6, will see in a min. No idea why you cant mount Cobra.uK...I use DT 4.06 HE, i guess same as you....do you have any other virtual crap going there maybe? Could be that you got some conflict etc.

Maybe, but I doubt it. I burned it, but that didn't work either, still asks me for a disc. Post back when you're done, I'm really annoyed as well as interested. 
Also with DT, did you use the safe disc hider? You have to use it to hide DT.

Hm, nope used a RW Fuji here, no go!. I did not use any emulation on DT to install. I try to run it now with some emu on.
EDIT: No go running with any sort of emulation on. I guess its all Black Listed.

That's crap. They said burning with Blindwrite would get it working, obviously not. That's shite.

Tried all different stuff...no go. Installs with DT ok. But burning and running with BW no go...Someone got this working with BW? or another method?

I bought a key from zest cant grumble at 8 quid, lol. Aint recieved it yet although I did it late in the day, shame I wanted to play tonight.
in my order list the status shows as nothing, like the box is empty. Oh well we shall see.

And they confirm that it does work!
