erhm... If Kotor2 was unfinished, is that truly the devs fault or the publishers for rushing games?

Its everyone involved fault, publisher and developer, they obviously did not work together to make things right, even after release.
Looks like gothic 3 was rushed out and has lots of issues, I wouldnt be surprised if exactly the same applies to this game.

i want to know how they do that part with stronghold, bec i onluy know that you must build it from the ground and then menage and build some building like tavern, mage tower or employ some peoples like dancers or guard or mage

Developers want to make a good game. Publishers, however, want to get a game on the shelves asap. Publishers push deadlines on the developers, so they have no choice to make a "rushed" release candidate which may contain some bugs/unfinished work...

i like the nwm series and i liked the kotor series too
the only game i didnt like was gothic
maybe i´ll have to replay them
the thing that bugs me in d+d series are that it takes too bloody long to be able to get a good hitrate, and a good spellrate. Compared to games where you use mana as ammo
im currently playing a half-elf wizard and is having a blast even though i dont have that many usefull spells that i can spam (well 4burst of fire and 2 fireballs and 1-2 acid arrow) but its still fun! u get a nice tingling sensation when u open a door and some mobs starts to run at you and you let one fireball explode infront of them causing the lot to die in a fiery death!
its only a shame that summonings take experience, i do know that otherwise the summoners would be able to kill almost everything that comes in ones path, but u loose a really good amount of exp using even the familar so i just use the familar or the other summonings when i need lockpick/bashing the chest/door help or im about to get swarmed.
i´m looking forward too nwn2
and maybe the last chapter/episode of kotor 2 is meant to be that way because it is the last chapter/episode? there is not much sense in coming to the end of your journey and be forced to "help little timmy/lisa/farfelkrüger collect apples/handgrenades/medikits" quests?
just a thought =)

i didn't like the beta at all - it wasn't bad but certainly no where near the last one at its time.

That is because D&D was developed as a roleplaying system, not a hack n slash diablo like clone. If you want to play a diablo clone go play one. I don't bitch that I can't drive a car in Neverwinter nights I just go play GTA.

And it's a shame no one told Bioware that while they were making the original campaign.
Aces High, if you've got both expansions and you want a hack and slash style experience, try the PRC. About 8 new base classes, 60-70 prestige classes - some pure RP, but others like the Psychic Warrior give you the whole Diablo style experience.

No idea about the protection system. I just hope it isn't starforce, i want to buy this one.
But i'll probably download it first since games take so much time to arrive here...

I've heard from a beta tester the graphics engine isn't the smoothest.

You already said it yourself. A beta tester. What has he played? The beta. Is a beta the same as the gold release? No. Does the gold release have optimizations? Yes. So is this argument valid? No.
Beta's DO NOT represent the orignal game when it comes to performance.

True - but it gives you atleast a hint. Hopefully they tweak it as much as possible before the release. When was it went gold? 2-3 days ago?
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

nice screenshots. Looks like one of the graphic things that annoyed me more is gone... Anyone noticed that in the original NWN the furniture was huge compared to the character?

Just to note that NWN 1 was buggy as hell when it was released.
A couple of patches which came quite fast after the game hit the shelves made sure the game was fun. I can recall not playing NWN 1 for a month at start (well not properly) untill some fixes were made.
So as long as NWN 2 has this same support, I'm not worried about any bugs/tweaks/etc.
Besides NWN 2 is a game which will have expension packs so I'm quite sure things will turn out fine, just like NWN 1

Immunity wrote: | KOTOR II = UNFINISHED GAME
Its obvious that the last scenes on the lava planet (its name escapes me) are completley unfinished, you just rush through and kill a bunch of guys, no story interaction whatsoever. That, and the ending is the same no matter which dialogue you end up choosing.
Hopefully Obsidian actually bothers to finish NWN 2 instead of just tying up loose ends and slapping it in a box. |
Well, i can agree that the end of KOTOR II could have been a little more dramatic, although it still more dramatic than the ending of I was. While the ending cinematic may not be different based on the the different choices, then ending has so many possible outcomes, that while i've tried 2-3 different ones, i'm still not sure i've got them all.
Generally, KOTOR and KOTOR2 were the best CRPG titles i've played in my life, and that includes playing about every Fantasy CRPG from the last 10-12 years or so. They were the only CRPG games that managed me to get involved in the story in a way, that i've played through KOTOR in maybe two huge day long sessions. Not even mentioning that they were the only games that i bothered playing through again and again, just to see the different variations of the same story.
If NWN2 will be half as good as KOTOR and KOTOR2, then it'll still singlehandedly beat all the mainstream crap out there at the moment. If it will be as good, or even better, then i'll have to extend my rating scale to include numbers above 10, as KOTOR 1 and 2 are seriously 10++ already.
Thats my two cents

KOTOR 2 was not finished. It was rushed, this is a fact and both the publisher as the developer fucked that up.
That ppl still liked it is not a suprise because it still is a decent/good game. As for ppl who want to play KOTOR 2 with the missing pieces back in place, go to:
