Every now and then one of those companions will take the gold and weapons from the fallen foes they manage to kill, but I have no idea if they equip those weapons. (Thankfully the don't take the items, don't want to kill my own companions)

READ THIS!!!!!
well the Vcd8 trick can run this game but it will not turn off the trigers 
found one triger , this GAME HAS ONLY ONE BIG FUCKING TRIGER  : after you level up to 13 level or finish 23 quests or run this game 20 times - it trigers a keyboard Lag , the controls are fucked up , you cannot move corectly , its like i was pressing "go up button" 5 times and when your hero jumps out off a cliff and dies he says "Piraten version vesgestelt " {traslated - Pirated version found }
will try to reinstall this game and test it again ...  lets hope it will run

Dude, Oblivion was like this too in the beginning. The best updates came from addons until Bethesda started patching stuff. |
Oblivion wasn't disliked because of bugs. This game just ruins the gaming experience because of freakin' bugs. The most important thing in an RPG is the illusion of a realistic world. If a mighty warrior who can hit 3 people with one stroke gets his ass kicked by a boar or another animal, then there's definately something wrong. Maybe those boars are reincarnations of dead heroes. And we can name many more bugs. Just read the buglisting thread on the official forums, you won't be happy. Bethesda took it's time and gave us a finished game. Whether you like the game or not has nothing to do with bad optimizing/testing.
Piranha bytes obviously didn't do any betatesting, or it was done by monkeys.

Minor Spoilers!
After you whip Copper's ass in the arena and ask him to join you, he may not have a weapon. To rememdy this, right after he joins, tell him to get lost and then ask him to join again. His sword/shield will magically appear.

well... I'm allready level 29... I guess I've completet far more than 23 quests... hmm... but maybe I haven't started it 20times yet...

I don't think it matters what savegame you use... at least it worked fine for me... several times... on different PCs...
but well... it was a german "at the start" savegame...

 FOUND A WAY TO TRICK TAGES ONCE AND FOR ALL and no i didn`t bought the original , only Locked my virtual drive in VCD8 and set the reading speed to 1x works like a charm

EDIT: Managed to salvage my deleted copy of G3 from the bin using Tuneup undelete

If you are referring to the fact that I said that the game is barely playable because of bugs and what have you...well then you are right, but whining....naaaa i let others do that.
I simply stated what most of the ppl playing the game says, it is unoptimized etc. No harm in that now is it...its true is it not. I guess you hyped so much for this game that it HAD! to be good etc. Well I am sure it is a good game and all that, its just that it is barely playable atm cause of above stated reasons....whiner...me...Bah Humbug I say Sir.

This is whining. You just keep repeating the same things, about how you don't like the game and you're going to stop playing. STOP FUCKING PLAYING THEN! Maybe we'll get less whining in this thread if you do.

O come on. How is that accurate if no mention is made of the bugs. I'm sure the game is worth 9/10 after patches, but it's not even worth a 7 at this point.
I advise again to everyone who's trying to get this to work, just wait for the US version. It'll be Securom and hopefully complete. Don't ruin the game by playing the beta. Just be patient.

Hello, I am an artard but I have been following this incredibly short thread as I have been very interested in checking out Gothic 3 for some time (will not arrive here for another 3 weeks).
So I finally got both the Engrish and German versions (ENG is MDS and GErman is VCD8 clone) and installed the Engrish version and run using German VCD8 clone blah blah.
Ok what is interesting is that I have had no problems at all getting it to run - it ran first time, and every time since then. I can create a new game just fine, there is no lag.. I find this strange because it seems so many people are having problems.
I mount the VCD8 clone on my first physical DVD drive (NOT a burner). Here is my setup:
Core 2 duo 6400
2GB Ram
7900GTO
Winblows XP
DVD rom on IDE, HD on SATA2/
I am wondering if this awesome (read:crap) copy protection is very particular about hardware. For example, only my DVD ROM is IDE - and it is the only IDE device in my system (and my mobo has only a single IDE channel).
Ok ill shut up now, but I thought it would be interesting. But maybe not.
