How did you guys get it to work? I got the game to load but then it freezes when I try to start a new game. Also I tried using that english version save to get it to work but after I load it the screen is just half orange/white although I can see the hotkey bar at the bottom. I don't see how it could be a problem with my computer.

I'm not that far either so i'm also hoping the same thing. It would be lame if a main quest boss is as glitched as the boars.
I expect once you are a fairly high level and have good equipment that the boars will cease to be a problem anyway.
Just imagine they're uber boars which have been magically enhanced or something. Works for me.

Lol good thing this is not oblivion where everything levels as you do, imagine having super gear and getting owned by a freaking boar. I too am afraid that one of the very hard monsters would be bugged. So without the bug its freaking hard to take him down, but image him attacking you 10 times in a second, and knocking you each time, or even breaking through your attacks.

Some other people said this was due to another hidden cd-check and the game does access the cd towards the end of the loading screen - the solution seems to be to use a savegame and I uploaded one on page 1. (mirrored on rapidshare as well on page 2 or 3)

btw, what is the name of this english release you talk about? One of the previous "fake"? If I understood correctly, it install great, don't work, but work with german version mounted?

the vcd8 trick does not work with the german version in usenet - although its also an alcohol clone. For me the german caliban release worked with that trick as described in the german forum of the guys who found it out...

the ston3d version IS the german version of gothic3. there was a "homemade" ( ind ) rls, but alc120% can't handle tagés. i read that the us version of gothic3 use securom v7, schouldn't be hard to clone or to ... .

Are there high expectations on this game, i have only heard about the gothic series but i have never known if i should compare it with oblivion or not.

Try buying the game ... could help to "don't fuck up your computer using these tools".

Das, was du vor hast, wird nicht funktionieren. Es würde mich wirklich wundern, wenn die .exe von der US Version, welche SR7 benutzt, mit der Deutschen Tagés Version kompatible wär. Möglich ist alles, aber ... *g* ... Ich teste heut mal das STON3D Release, VirtualCD ist genauso "gut" bzw. "schlecht" wie Alc120%, von daher ... was willste dir da zerschießen? Außerdem würde ich bei Gothic3 ein Clone immer vorziehen, wer weiß wieviele Patches noch kommen. Da kommen die doch mit dem "cracken" garnicht hinterher. *zwinker*

My comp hangs aswell when I run it, I think it's a hardware issue. You're saying you were getting hangs aswell and you managed to run it? (It normally hangs when words Gothic 3 appear on the screen)

Regarding crashes and hangs/lockups.
How much memory do you have?
Alot of people, myself included get a "Out of memory" error after some time in the game and for me it usually happens when I try to save the game, probably destroyed about 20 saves so far. (Alt tab reveal that the Gothic3 virtual memory manager crashes)
I have 1GB of memory but the issue has happened on my 2GB machine and one person got the issue on his 3GB system.
I'm currently trying to solve it by experimenting with the cache values in the Ge3.ini but so far nothing has worked or just crashes the game faster.

So far the best is to either double or halve them.
(Can seriously mess up the far away landscape and horizon with odd settings)
You can also enable the console by either typing Marvin or changing

Does anyone know what files are ruquired from the english rls for the voices to be in english.Rather than downing 7 gb,i`d want to snatch the voice files and put them in the german gothic folder.

Guess this version has Speech_Germam.pak instead and adding the english pak would probably work.
(Assuming you change the langauge settings in the INI file)
