I've gone back to playing Gothic 1. Wot scary grafx in G1.
Have they gotten rid of all the boring dialog in G3? Anyone know who spent their hard-earned ducats? Are there really so many meatbugs in this game? Anyone? Everyone?!

I don't know what you mean with boring dialog, yes theres alot of voiced dialog in the game, I find that it adds to the atmosphere, especially because the voice actors are so varied.
But if your looking for a Sacred like game showing you where to go with little glowing dots on your radar so you can simply skip all diaglog and just run back and forth from a-b c-d etc then no they've not gotten rid of the boring dialog.

I think the publishers are forcing the programmers to release buggy titles, knowing that crackers will not crack the buggy shit, but rather wait for the game to be somewhat playable with all the patches,.. wich are going to be released in the coming weaks,..not needing to crack every 1.434, 1.457,1.536 version of game that is going to get patched,.. and since they sell most copys in the first 3 weaks,.. and the demand from gamers, who are hyped the most in the first weaks,..and just can't wail to try it,. so they buy, even if they know its buggy as shit,.. they also know that its going to be patched, and wont have to pray when the next dox or crack for the patch pops-up...And another tendency im starting to see. Simmilar tactic is used with the demos that are getting released a weak or so after the game is already out,.. as a byproduct the magazine publishers gain also,..they sell more magazines, couse they have more insight and get quasi-demos or alphas,betas,.. before the genelal public,..that want info, so they buy more magazines also,.. and I would bet my arse that some publishers have stocks in cdrw drives,.. and hardware companyes,.. so they gain $,.. from hardware and probably pc-mags,.... I will not go into specifics ,.. but i think there must be truth in this, that the whole industry is so manipulative and interconnected.. if not ,.. if publishers cant see a great oportunity to rip people off,.. maby they should hire me as an manager or advisor Smile

Thank you djmc26. I really appriciate user brief summary of the game.
And I agree with your comments to the TES (especially the monster leveling, which is really -use random curse word-).

edit: By the way, anyone who can make another simple game summary (from your experience of course)? That would be great I think.

I'm really enjoying it at the moment. I've edited the .ini files so the view distance is greater and more detailed, I can see forever!

I really love the combat too, especially when fighting another human. There are lots of different tactics to try.

I started out in a small village and in the far distance I can see the capital, and a massive forest. I found a rebel camp, hidden in the forest and just spent an hour exploring that. Theres so much to do and so many people to talk to that you can spend ages in one area without realising it. Once I emerged from the underground section of the camp it was night, and I blundered off into the forest only to bump into a shadowbeast (an extremely powerful nocturnal hunter) and got my ass kicked. Jumped off a cliff to save myself hoping for water below but instead splattered on the beach.

I've hardly even left the first village too! There are bugs, i've encountered a couple so far, but if you don't let them ruin your experience they won't.

I meant the voiced dialog when you see it written out then you've gotta sit there for like five minutes listening to your guy saying stuff like, "Sup. I'm new here, bitches! Like, where's Diego?"

Got another of the "Out of memory" errors but this time it was on the second computer with 2GB ram, managed to alt-tab and saw Gothic3.exe taking up roughly 1500 MB of my ram. (Wonder what it used before I alt-tabbed as it dropped down after a while to about 1200)

EDIT: No wonder it lags and stutters on 1GB machines.

Can anyone with the game see if setting "Max frames to render ahead: #" to 2 or 1 improves lag/mouse smoothness? It made Oblivion run a lot more smoothly, and both games share the same engine so...
