The patch has increase performance for some - for others the game crashes more often after applying the patch...they even release more bugs with their patch..piranha bytes has a new addiction...

I'm having problems every time I enable the 'Depth of Field' effect. I get strange black boxes around NPC's and the screen goes white whenever I turn left. Anyone else havign the same problems/know a solution?
Otherwise it runs and plays great, but I want DOF goddamit!

Ive no black boxes or something else!

The boar video is really great if you ask me.
Man can make ANY game looking stupid, no matter how is its AI well developed.
It is just about the point of view.
I do not mind "ah, oh, ah, ah, oh, oh" What should they yell? Or would it better with no sound at all? No problem, just turn down speakers. I did not mind this in Gothic II, since this is just cosmetic error. I fear real bugs, like game crashing, falling through textures, or awful performance.
Anmd what about the boar itself? Difficulty? I loved the hard fights in GII, since you were really weak at the beggining and really strong in the end. It also bring great contrast when you became powerful magic user, or when you use long distance weapons. And personaly I loved the unconsious state in GII (and we can see it is still here). If you would be knocked unconsious by a boar, I do not think it would try to tear you apart. But I am no zoologist. And if I remember correctly, you can choose when to stand up after unconcious ends in GII.
If those are only bugs in game, I do not think the real Gothic fan would mind.

Same with me when I enable DoF, if you, like me, have a SM2.0 card then perhaps DoF is better suited for SM3.0?
Either that or ATI just can't get the effect right.
(Assuming you have a ati card)
Reason for above is that the effect works just fine on a 7800GTX wich is capable SM3.0 instead of SM2.0 wich my own card uses and it's NVIDIA instead of ATI.
My guess is that's it is a shader related problem and has nothing to do with the GPU developer. (Assuming it's not something with the drivers)
EDIT: Just played around a little more with the console, suprised at the amount of weapons and armor and even items in the game but gothic games never had that much stuff to equip and take. (Also suprised at my 1000 gold flameswords effectiveness)

lol. I seem to remember Gothic2 crashing on occasion as well. Didnt stop me from playing it though. What is your system?

I installed the patch.. it crashed again, this time while chatting to someone in the village.. seriously, I do hate to say this, but for me it seems unplayable. Gonna check out the forums and maybe try uninstalling the patch to see if that helps.
BTW, when you click on the "check for updates" thing, does it still tell you there are updates?
