I dunno. Looks cool, but it seems to be pointless without the online play, and the pc-version most likely will have some cd-key, ubi soft-thingy login crap that makes you have to buy the game to play it like it's supposed to.
Besides, the Test Drive franschise isn't exactly what gives me good vibrations.

Well, I can't say anything about the PC version, but I did play the Xbox360 version, and it totally blows NFS out of the water.

-You got a huge island to drive around.
-Shitloads of several different cars; Lamborghini, Ferrari, Pagini, McLaren, Ford, Dodge, Audi, Volkswagen, you name it.
-Great driving physics, no more arcadeish NFS crap.
-Finally something new, unlike NFS which has been the same shit for years.
-No blingbling neon-light bullshit here, although you can tune your car at a few places.
-I love the consistent online mode, seeing players drive around on the street with your is cool, and you can race against them anytime you want.

This game just brings back the fun in racing, and there is just too much to do to put it in a small list really.

I just looked at World Racing 2, wow... 4.4 score from GameSpot, that is really poor. I haven't actually played it, but I don't think they compare at all! Here's a few key quotes from the review:

Quote:
you'll find that the menus are unattractive and difficult to navigate

TDU's menu system is brilliant and easy to navigate, everything you can do from the GPS/map view, and when you visit car dealers, real estates angencies or your houses, it is just as easy, just navigate from left to right. Also there are many other options on the 360 version, you can customize your steering sensitivity, set the radial blur (how much feeling of speed you get), as well as driving aid and many other things.

Quote:
It can't decide whether it's a simulation or a pure arcade racer

TDU has good and realistic driving physics.

Quote:
there's a noticeable lag between when a button is pressed and when the action occurs onscreen

Sounds really great that the developers didn't fix this, woohoo /sarcasm

Quote:
All of the race modes employ catch-up artificial intelligenc

Catch-up is bullshit, it exists in NFS and many other arcade racers, but not in TDU.

Quote:
The game's two main play modes are career and free ride. You'll have to spend most of your time in the career mode, since it's the only way to earn "speedbucks," the in-game currency that is used to unlock cars and tracks in other modes.

TDU combines freeride with challenges, and you can do them in what order you like, which is brilliant.

Quote:
The roster of 90 cars is slightly smaller than that of the original World Racing.

Even less than the original? LOL, TDU has 125, including motorbikes.

Quote:
The number of vehicles is slightly misleading, however, as many are merely slight variations from one another, differing only in paint scheme and horsepower.

The vehicles in TDU all vary in looks (like they actually look in real life, including interior!), the way they perform in real life, etc. And when you buy a car you can choose rims, exterior and interior color. You can also take it to a spray paint place later and totally customize the color, or to a workshop and tweak its performance.

Quote:
Those hoping that the game would at least put forth a strong multiplayer component are going to be disappointed. Online play is included, but it's strictly bare-bones.

TDU's multiplayer is nothing short of brilliant.

Quote:
sluggish frame rate makes it difficult to feel any sense of speed. World Racing 2 is also missing one of the few noteworthy features of the original--the in-cockpit view

Ouch, TDU has these views: three different exterior views, cockpit, and two types of bumper cams. There are no framerate problems on the 360, and I doubt there will be on the PC.

Quote:
The soundtrack is also deeply generic, consisting of bland tracks that don't make any kind of audible impression throughout the game.

In TDU, you can tune in on different radio stations, ranging from rock, classic rock, trance, to classical music - or you can play your own music through an ipod or your pc with the 360 music player.

I can see what you mean ELIZ, that TDU and World Racing2 might have a few similarities, but other than that, WR2 sounds utterly mediocre. TDU has many new concepts, especially multiplayer, and it is a lot of fun to play. If you have a 360, get it now, otherwise you'll have to wait unfortunately Razz

Yes, I have played plenty of arcade racers in my time, but they never give me that extra ooomph! They are ok, but they will never reach a level of greatness. In my opinion, driving games should be about the driving experience, not driving around in a car which has physics like a soap floating in water - unless we are talking destruction derby games or otherwise.

Is Burnout Revenge better than the original? Cause I found it impossible to actually do any racing and only kept crashing, it's too blazing fast for me. I know lot's of people like the crashes but I'd like to get some racing in there somewhere Smile As to arcadish racers, I agree a lot of them don't have any oomph to them. That's why a lot of them go nowhere. Even if it is an arcade racer it still has to have good physics to it for it to be fun. When one has the right physics it can be real fun. My favorite is still NFS Underground 1.

I cannot really compare it to any of the previous games, since Burnout Revenge is the first in the series I have actually played, but I didn't find it very hard to race - there's only one track that I have found to be really hard so far. You just have to concentrate a lot because it's going fast Razz

MASSIVE, when you buy a car you can select different available rims and exterior/interior color. There is no street-race modding, tuning, or blingbling bullshit like in NFS.

You can however buy three upgrades for your car which increases its performance, or you can buy a custom color.

Can you tune it to official tuning brands like AMG for Mercedes and MTM for Audi for instance? That would be the ultimate IMO. Smile

well, tuning and modding doesnt have to be like the nfs bullshit, some slick bumpers would be nice, image that your race with 3 people who happen to have the same car (highly doubtfull but still, lets assume), only difference in looks would be the color and rimms, i kinda expected a bit more tbh

10 points for ELIZ. This game is all about driving, cruising, racing, it's all about the driving-experience.

There are shitloads of different cars in this game, and you pretty much always see something different, but even if you race against the same car that you have and the only difference is the color, it ain't boring at all. That's the way it's supposed to be!

If you want heavy car tuning, mostly japcrap, neonlights, blingbling and stupid paintjobs like someone tagged your car you can go play NFS Razz
