The game had a language = english setting I could adjust untill I installed the patch, now it's a blank line instead. (Assuming I don't suddenly somehow start to imagine things)
Wonder if there are text files for different languages even though speech was english or german depending on wich version you got. (The Speech_Language.pak file was perhaps only audio so perhaps some other pak file had the text?)
EDIT: As I said on the previous page the specs for my own 2.5 year old homebuilt computer is:
Pentium 4 2.6 HTT processor with 1048 (?) DDR 400 ram and a ATI ASUS 9800XT GPU with a inbuilt AC'97 soundcard, latest drivers for everything and XP SP2 with all updates and .net 1, 2 and 3 plus starforce, tages and daemon drivers not to mention numerous services such as ATI and others.
Fully tweaked using tweakguides.com and a few other sites.
(Wish I could upgrade, won't happen untill 2007 with Vista and DX10)

btw
Try some .ini tweaking. Some people have turned off the distance blur from games config files and they say that it improves the performance a lot.

Gothic 2 only got 78% on average so I don't really trust reviews when it comes to this series.

Reviews are very subjective theme.
For example Oblivion got mostly like 90%, but I think it is too high. I do not even consider it as RPG, since there only a few major decisions which really affect the world. But that is my opinion, do not take iit as flame.
Now there is 68% or something for Gothic 3, but it seems that most of the cons are either bugs or strange game story script. I did like the Gothic 2 story, but I do not consider it mainstream. So that would not be problem I think. But I am more affraid of the bugs, since I really do not want to wait years for the REAL gold edition.

That will be too late, I am off tomorrow so I want to stay up all night squashing bugs if I have to!

Remind me why it's being delayed in US? I don't get it, why are release dates (of almost anything) different in each continent?

Because of Walmart
Maybe the Americans statistically return more buggy games than the overseas crowd.
I mean will this be the same gold master as the EU release or will all current patches be implimented?

You might want to get your eyes checked there champ. Or maybe try playing the game on recent hardware. The depth-of-field effect is awesome and the enviroment just looks and feels alive.

Actually I won't mind poorer graphics.
I used to play ASCII games and some of them are still far better than newly released games with all the eyecandy. Do not be mistaken, I like HDR, shaders, physical models etc, but the most important is general experience and playability of the game.
And as Baleur said, when it comes to graphics, you can not compare "commonly" generated terrain and really unique trees, cliffs and chasms. It is so great to remember all the places because you have been there and saw it, instead of remembering just because of a map.
What I hope to get is:
relatively bugless game (I know it is utopia, actually I would like to have completely bugless game)
Great game experience gained from the core of RP Games - that is - ability to make decisions according the way you have choosen and see the results of your actions in the world. Simply said, feedback of your actions. There is no RP elemenent in increasing some numbers or repeating boar killing. Interesting storyline, no need to some legendary story. Just a plot that will make you feel the character. Well, than some decent GUI. I mean the way inventory is managed and combat fought. And of course the ending must bring pleasure, not emptiness.
I probably forgot something, since I am forgetful.
What are your requirements and expectations?
