Oh yes, this made me realize how important life is and that I need to think about what I am doing and how I am doing it. It changed me completely!

Good luck on your journey. Razz

Had a motherboard burn out on me recently. Sad Bought a new one the next day but was mainly afraid of having to re-install cause that would suck. In the end, managed to replace the board without having to re-install. Was quite surprised because most 'experts' said that changing something like a main board (in XP) always requires a re-install.

That's one of the advantages of diy. You learn so much. Now gimme cookie. Very Happy

Very Happy If I had fried the thing myself I would have told the same story but on behalf of a 'friend'. Something like, 'this friend of mine fried his motherboard.....' Wink

I had done some overclocking with that board but it had been running at stock speeds for a long time now. First I thought it was the power-supply but changing that didn't do anything. Then I noticed that the fan on the north-bridge wasn't even starting up, unlike the cpu fan. I let the board cool-down since overheated NBs can cause stability issues, but even after a day the computer would just start for a brief moment (had put in a new fan on the NB) and then shut off.Sad

Didn't have the skills/equipment to test the old board so it was time for a new one, this time one with a passively-cooled NB.

The degree of hubris in this thread (from me) is cringe worthy.
