Well Bugulous im currently playing my PS2 and Cube more just because there the systems that are hooked up at the moment. Guitar Hero, We love Katamari, Viewtiful Joe 1-2 and Project Zero 3 are getting there fair share of gaming time. I played Black again recently and its still an awesome game plus I've been using my PC a bit recently for gaming just because I upgraded again recently although I would say some of the stuff on PC seems a little stale to me at the moment - fancy graphics do not maketh a great game. Oh yeah still love my Xbox btw, see alot of people ripping on them now thay have 360's and the releases have dryed up but I still think its one of the best consoles I've ever owned.
As for Scarface Bugulous I would be surprised if you don't really, really enjoy it. I agree with Pallebrun on the PS2 thread although at this early stage couldn't say its a GTA beater. What I would say though is you have to give the game a 10/10 if your a Scarface fan just for pure usage of the original material. Play the game for a few hours and you'll see excellent footage from the movie, combined with the colorful language, stunning Georgio Moroder OST and the original tracks from the film - even his pet Tiger and Leopard Skin trimmed Cadillac put in an appearance. Graphics and sound are great as well although I did notice some slowdown it doesn't ruin the game.
In the game opening credits the list of voice talent is nothing short of incredible, so many huge names. Also the way the game starts is fantastic, as I said on another thread the game picks up minutes before the Tony is killed in the actual film in the mansion shootout although this time you guide him out of the mansion and escape although lose everything in the process. Even the stuff which I scoffed at like the Rage meter works well, to fill it up you can do stuff like drive wildly or taunt opponents then when the meter fills up you hold down the red button and the game flips into First Person Mode plus slows down and the Georgio Moroder track that was used when he killed Manny plays in the background - its works really well.
It would be very, very easy for me to give the game a solid 7-8/10 based on the early stages, the atmosphere and how good a job they have done of capturing the mood of the film, im sure you'll enjoy it Bugulous.

Seems the Indie version has been nuked as a copy.
Anyone gotten far into this game yet, to see if it is 100% ?
May not be too good, but its good for nostalgia purposes regardless.

Hey StarShine what do you think - PC version or Xbox version? I've seen in a movie that the console versions use an auto lock-on system again which is a real letdown for me.

I think it'll be a toss up really Weedo between PC vs Console versions, I remember alot of people appreciated The Godfather more on console (I know I did) and personally I'd rather play GTA on a console as well - Graphics and sound are fine on Xbox for this game, I don't think it was ever going to be a title that had the best textures, bump mapping, HDR, Depth of View etc so I imagine the fairly limited visuals will carry across to the PC with maybe the 360 owners getting a slightly spruced up version.
I'll update though once I get the chance to try the PC game, didn't see many posting opinions on the game by the way....is it only myself, Pallebrun and azzman that actually like it?
Oh and yeah there is an auto lock on feature but you manually adjust your aim once locked to target individual body parts, kidney, head, arm, leg for example. It works ok in my opinion, I always looked past the combat aspect of these styles of games though to be honest. Fair enough in a game like Max Payne where its heavily focused around on foot action and you want to be able to place your shots and get some challenge from the game but in these GTA styles of games theres so much more than just running around gunning people down.
For what its worth the gun play is leaps and bounds ahead of the fairly recent GTA Liberty Cities on PS2 it doesn't quite reach Mercenaries high standards though.

I've had it freeze once, but it hasn't happened again and I've played for a few hours. The game kinda gets ahead of its self and loses you in the process. The game could've been great, but something happened??

So far i like this game, though it did go strange on me and left me with an indefinate loading screen the first time I played and had to do the whole intro level again. I have heard it locks up for good at the balcony scene, but I haven't got that far.
The swearing though is rediculous (press the 'b' button to swear and build up you're special power..lol) make sure there are no youger children around if you play this one, every other word is f**k.
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

Got the chance to try out the PC Version today, running everything set at max game looks near enough identical to the Xbox game as expected just clearer, crisper textures and the water looks better. There was some scenery pop up for some reason when I was playing the game could be a driver issue but thought I would mention it.
Personally I still prefer the Xbox version, PC version plays like a port, the graphics look too clean. As I said in the Godfather game thread, clean, crisp graphics in a title like this only serve to highlight what are low poly models and scenery in comparison to some of the eye candy which is available on PC.
The real killer for me is the controls, they just fealt clumsy to me compared to what is an intuitive set up on the console version, sure I could have connected a pad and saw if that made a difference but why bother the game is hardly going to make the majority of peoples PCs even break a sweat so why not just enjoy the game in all its glory on a console.
As always better to try both for yourself, but you asked so theres my 2 cents.
Aiming also uses the same lock on method as the console versions btw, you can free aim but I believe that was also available in the console version too.

yes you can free aim and not use the lockon. Even when locked on , you can still free aim in the lock box and around it for head shots etc

Atleast IGN gave this game a decent review :
8.5 Presentation
Great story/setting, nice phone system that lets you manage your empire and lots of little touches here and there that add to the experience.
8.0 Graphics
Not amazing, but extremely competent. Tony himself looks fantastic and everything runs quite well, but nothing will blow you away.
9.0 Sound
Absolutely fantastic voice acting for Tony. Weapon and other sound effects are very solid if not great. Soundtrack is really damn good, as well.
8.5 Gameplay
Nice shooting mechanic, the Balls meter is fresh (if not perfect), and there's a LOT of stuff to do. It's the deepest open world game we've seen yet.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
Lengthy single-player storyline and the open world means you can $#&@ around for a long, long time.
8.7
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)
9.2 Reader Average
I agree with this score , and yes im a mad scarface fan. Might just have to watch that 1080i HDTV TS again i think lol
