first time i played a game of this type before and i love it gfx sound and gameplay are all nicely made.

i made it thru the tutorial levels fine....

I had that too, you have not boarded all six soldiers. I had to reload the last autosave (shortly before the station) and redo that. The first time I made a mistake adding the two additional soldiers.

Another thing though, I entered the train and that should take me to war but I end up in the second tutorial mission (tank training). That should happen if you board the truck.

Other than that, this game is nicely done. I was a huge fan of Soldiers and FOW seems even better to me. I'm a bit confused by the germans mixing english and german voices. That is a bit annoying.

Anyone else got performance issues when breakable stuff like those wood stick that you driver over in the tank tutorial breaks? My fps drops down to 8 nomatter what settings i use :S
Other games with destroyable enviroment doesnt lag at all though..

My comp: P4 3,0 ghz, 4x256mb ram, HiS Radeon x850xt (agp)

Yep 5h4d0wn30, the physics lag for me in this game. But in CoH it runs smooth. Must be idiot coders.

This game is excellent except some issues.
First, game is rather laggy. It needs more optimization.
Second, soldiers cannot go upstairs, whereas enemy can do so.
Third, there are some bugs, eg. script is sometimes not triggered after loading game.

Its perfectly optimised, i ran it on high with my poor 6600GT, you probaly have some low budget crap. Now with my 7600GS it runs eveything on high.

Graphic lag can occur in single player or multiplayer...they arent talking about network lag Smile (I havent read the other posts so I might have totally misunderstod you Razz)

- now squad follows closer to commander
- fixed installation of AT hedgehogs and dynamite
- other soldiers don't prevent coming to items or boxes
- fixed path planning for cars and cannons

Game (multiplayer)

- improved scoring system
- ability to set up limit on resources in game (like in Soldiers)
- new color for "call in" buttons - if unit is charged, but can't be called in due to limits, then button is red, otherwise button is gray
- more fragile tracks on tanks
- turret and engine repair is allowed
- new marking for flag zone
- in "Frontline" mode mines are deleted only in flag zone
- improved balance for "squads only" for all multiplayer modes
- new command "abandon vehicle" (Key L)

Multiplayer (technology)

- improved internet connection stability
- improved lag for fast PCs in game
- connection by IP is working now
* UPnP support for PCs behind the NAT

Still think its two different kinds of rts games. I like them both - CoH has excellent action and awsome graphics/sounds...while FoW has abit more options and excellent graphics) I still havent tried any of them in multiplayer so I guess the "fire trial" is still to be Smile

I've discovered some weird bug, in one of the cutscenes (the first soviet mission in the train station), one of my units exploded and I was like *Crap why did my sniper die in a cutscene* , and there he was after the cutscene, alive and kicking. I could still see his body lying there under the blown up bridge Very Happy

Yeah I give it about 7/10...in its current form. I agree that is nowhere as fun as SHOWW2 right now and the replayability if you are talking SP is near-nonexistant.

Now if they add a skirmish mode with open-ended missions instead of the scripted, limited decision and just plain unfun sp missions that it now has? And on top of that add a mission editor/generator? And obviously remove bugs and annoyances in the controls/interface? Then I can see this game being a 9/10 and take place alongside the original as one of the best of its kind.

You definitely know how to make a good game and what gamers want. ^_^b

ps. This game is far better than showw2 imo.
Better graphics, more intense battle and more realistic AI.

Soldiers HoWWII is not like the rest of the rts games. It was all about strategy and planing your move to survive in the world and leave the map without losing any of your men. It was a game for those who had some brains.

Faces of war is just another game gone bad.

SHOWW2 felt something like 3d version commandos, imo.
As I remember, I finished almost missions with only 1 soldier. Just 1 soldier was enough.
FOW has realized the real feeling of battlefield with lots of NPC battles and realistic AI.
It has a good strategy because there are tons of method to complete an objective.
But it has some bugs now, but will be fixed in the upcoming patch.

got bored after doing the allied campaign , dont think i will ever feel like doing the german and russian ones, its pretty repetitive imo and ive became hooked on joint task force.

sure fow feels pretty good for awhile but the feeling dies pretty quick imo, been playing JTF for atleast twice aslong as i did this game and im still loving it

ee Soldiers HoWW2 was more than 1 men can to it all missions. If you played like I did. I never let any of my soldiers die and I always ambushed my enemy and stole their tanks fix em up etc. But now you cant even fix the fucking tank. That sucks. And this fog of war is so over done. My men cant c pass 5 meeter's in front of them. And you cant but men into building etc. Its just crap pure and simple. And this sucks: enemy spawns behind you and they sometimes seem to have unlimited resources. And you have to react to every shit in 2secs like wtf I cant move my mouse all over the map in that time. This game needs a huge fix that's all.

And what realistic AI ? they are so dumb like shit. In Soldiers if you left your men in the open field they would be dead like that. Now the AI cant even go over a hill to kill me. They even dont throw nades at me. And in soldiers HoWWII there where tons of ways to complete the objective. At least there one tank explosive shot = the building wall is down. Now its like the buildings are made of same shit as medieval castles.

Basic game mechanism of both games is same.
Most different things are the Graphics and the more detailed control scheme.
ex. In Soldiers, vehicles looked like a toy, but now in FOW, it looks like real tank.
Yes, I admit it was released years ago. Anyway, FOW graphic is far better.
FOW is a finely upgraded Turbo version of SHOWW2.
If patch comes out, AI will get even better.
As you know, when Soldiers came out, it had tons of bugs and AI issues too.
But it was patched several times. You can't simply compare the patched version of Soldiers with newly released game, FOW.

Wow, its like he works for 'em or something. Wait no, even They admit it that the game has problems...

Anyways, hopefully soon FOW will be either modded or patched so it will be like the prettier version of SHOWW2...which is obviously what most ppl want.

These are the ones I personally think sounded best in the comming patch:

...but dunno about you lot - but even in LAN I had problems with connection stability when I played Cooperative.. (I recall somebody mention this before..but too long thread for me to be arsed to check it Razz )

I'm stuck on the first Allied mission

I have to inspect a farm with my engineer. I have brought my engineer to the farm, killed all germans in the farm.

What next?

If I wait, more germans just come and slaughter my men off. What do you do here?
