this shit just doesn't feel right. Its not like Soldiers HoWW II. The AI now has even better shooting skills (they can shoot over trucks and stuff (tried some things). And they always see you. You cant sneak any more... maybe its this first mission negative impression but in short: I liked SHoWW II more than this.

fun thing to do: get a shit loads of trucks and shit and park them close to each other. Then blow one of them up and enjoy the fire works Laughing

silent heroes is a mod for Heroes of World War 2.
This game is oh so right. Every soldier has a FOW, so you need to be careful when you sneak to where the troops are looking. Also, you troops now actually take cover without you holding their hands. Played just a bit, but it seems that they took HOWW2 and improved it in the areas where ppl had complaints. Who cares about voice acting when you have such a superb physics engine? And it plays almost, or even better than the first one, as frame rates go. I don't think COH will be compared to this game. That game will be C&C with nice graphics, this is JA2 in real time...Two thumbs up, way up

Just played the first mission after going through the training. Seems very good in single player, as per the first game, the only problem I can identify so far (brief play test) is that it's quite rough around the edges. definitely not the most polished game but the best games never are really.

are you playing on the arcade mode or the tactical?

Me: playing the tactical mode and cant get pass the first german mission (blowing up the bridge). It's near impossible to get to the garden because of those sniper MG shooters (they use MG as a sniper).

Dam and I had a nice car but dint know that we had to retreat and stupid game AI took my men right out of the car and into danger.

Soldiers HoWWII was more polished than this. Even the voice acting was better.

Tactical mode here.

I love that the game is so hard sometimes. But the enjoyment when you finally succed, is hard to find elsewhere. I have just played ALLIED side so far, and I like the game very much.

Thou I found the ambient sound on one mission was ...well..not there. I turned of the music and got TOTAL silence, except my soldiers and the firearms and stuff. No birds no wind, nothing. Kinda poor.

Totally agree with you, did my first run of Soldiers in easy but the numerous other times ive completed it has always been on hard. It's so much more fun and intense. However i've tried both tactical and arcade on FoW and my biggest complaint would be that the arcade setting is way too easy. Could use a medium-setting etc.

I also played it on the net, and no problems there too...Some games give me connection failed, but if i create one, it's all fine. I won't stay on MP though until i finnish the campaigns, and i figure that's 1-2 weeks at least...

Works just fine over the net, no key required. If you are having problems it is because of a firewall or router, you must forward the proper ports Razz

nice game but I'm stuck in the german mission with the bridge, the ship and the park.

I took over the maintenance base (although everyone of my guys as well as all friendly AI soldiers died in the process of taking over the park) but now what?

He says to use the missile launcher to destroy the ship, but I can't get in. Also the mission objective did not update it still says: take over the maintenance base.

Well that sucks, either it's a game breaking bug or I missed something.

the enemy doesnt know where you are all the time! ive took a sniper guy out and blasted off peoples heads and had the enemy machine gun positions firing to where he shot from even though my sniper has moved to some different bushs.

ive not been shot threw solid objects like trucks yet when ive taken cover behind them, it might just have been a bug with how the truck had landed if it was not upright?

EDIT: i said i had encountred no bugs early but there has been 1 that keeps happening to me that i forgot about, everytime i examine a corpse or vehicle the game stays in slow motion for about 10 seconds afterwards, i imagine if i turned the slow motion examine thing off it wouldnt happen though, and there is a quick workaround when it does happen , if i hit backspace and click ok the speed goes back to normal.

ive not had the audio bug were people keep repeating the same sentence though or any others.

Ive had some bugs where the characters don't move on order, and some issues with all this "group" selection..oh, almost forgot, sometimes I can't repair a veichle to full... He repairs, but leaves like...the engine or something, and when I try again, I can't repair that veichle (Yes I have the repairkit).

And the "fog of war" or wtf its called, Anyway to turn it off..? I mean, every character have a field of view, and everywhere where they don't "see" Is covered with white clouds or something.. It looks like shit! Sad

Other than that. Still love it Very Happy

you have fog of war? I don't think I noticed any fog of war yet I think I can see everywhere.

Anyway, this game could use a patch.
It has some serious problems with objectives and those problems are really big ones because objectives determine a lot of things in the game.

Like in the second tutorial mission with the vehicle control? If you drive your truck with the gun attached to it into a tent or something like I did by mistake while trying to line it up properly you might not be able to complete that objective anymore, and because you can't complete that objective, the things you have to destroy using the gun are invulnerable so you have to load again.

I hope it's only these early missions that have those problems and they aren't as persistent later when you hopefully have more freedom in how to handle things. But we shall see.

Company of Heroes is out too so I'm gonna try out that one and see if it's as much fun and as buggy as this Smile

still a great game with no problems that couldnt be fixed soon with a patch.

PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP ME GET RID OF THE FOG!!! omfg... "fog of war" or wtf its called...It looks like shit and makes me wanna bang my head against the screen. Sad

Ive looked and googled alot. But the closest to an answer was a post from someone who doesnt speak english very good, and the only thing you could understand was that you had to do something, but he forgot to post what exactly. Laughing

Ive opened the .pak files (X:\Program\Ubisoft\Faces of War\resource) with WinRAR and looked into the files in there...but Im not good at finding whats what in there..

If someone could help me, I would be very very grateful. Smile
