Such a shame because the game was building up so well... then boom, over. It's almost like they got halfway through making it and thought ah fuck it, let's just release it as it is (probably not far from the truth).
Sure you can carry on playing, building improvements for colonies, letting them grow and become uber-rich. But with the "plot" over and nothing to discover, nothing to strive towards it all becomes very tedious, very fast.

do you think you could put a keyboard map together and post it or possibly give a short idea as far as instructions! but a keyboard map would be more helpful, thanks again

If you had read all the previews and/or interviews you would know that the initial plans as early as last christmas was just to make a completely free-form pirate game without any plot AT ALL!
At least they put some little thing in =D
I personally dont care for plots anyway, i just like the random little missions
But it is pretty sad that its so tiny, i mean look at Sid Meier's Pirates!, you got the entire east coast, central america, plus alot of south america to explore.
I think its pretty much a requirement to have that whole area if you are gonna make a pirate game, to JUST have the islands themselves, without any mainland, is crap.

Agreed, I actually stopped playing this game because I discovered the little area you were allowed to sail in, granted this little area is larger than I could ever hope to traverse in my old raft, but i'm used to far more from sid meiers pirates, even if it don't feature more glamorous graphics and micromanagement options. It was just a gamekiller

Does it work, is it more stable than the Reloaded version?
sounded a bit like replacing a Polish/English hack with a Russian/English hack...but who knows? |
This does work, however the game is still spitting out runtime errors and memory leaks likes it the end of the world. On top of that, it's referencing dialog files that aren't there, so if you try to talk to anyone, nothing will happen ingame. This game is a god damn mess. Those fucking degenerates at Reloaded obvious have no intention of fixing it, or they wouldn't have released anything else until they fixed this.
I wouldn't hold my breath for a proper. Anyone else have trouble enabling AA? Sea graphics go all to fuck if I turn it on at the driver level.
And you don't need a manual for the god damn keys. Look in the many .ini files, and you will see what does what and how to change it even. I quickly changed the damn WASD setup for world map navigation to the cursor keys. Something you can't do ingame.

Hey, at least we know it's easy to mod, I've never programmed before and it's simple enough. Very nice potential. |

Really not impressed, it's almost a step down from POTC. OTOH, it's piss easy to mod if you have even a passing acquaintance with C. Already redone the trade good pricing and item requirements, took about 5 mins.

Hmmm ... the guys who say that the game doesnt have bugs should get glasses ... When I tried to take all the loot from a ship a reeeeaaal big bug appeared... instead of me getting the loot the enemy ship got everything that I had on my ship + that it got like hmm 50.000 or more of everything when I clicked "take all" .. and when I clicked "take all" again the enemy ship got even more and when I tried to enslave the crew it didnt happened anything I only got their captain as a captive..I have even tried to take the ship with 1 of my men as captian if I had to get the enemy ship to transport the slaves. Hope there will be a patch that fix all the issues.. or if it is reloadeds "crack" that are doing it I want a better crack

Alt-Tab can cause the game to crash when in fullscreen mode.
If you have this problem, try the following:
Playing in windowed mode with a fullscreen resolution mode solves this issue.
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Playlogic\Age of Pirates - Caribbean Tales (where C:\Program Files\ is the drive and folder location of the installation).
2. Double click on the file config.exe.

Internet Multiplayer
Internet Play – Port and Network Settings:
By default, Age of Pirates connects to the Internet through the following UDP ports:
o UDP port 29020
o UDP port 29029
Each time you join or create an Internet multiplayer game, you must make sure these ports are open on your PC for both incoming and outgoing traffic.
In addition to this, you can turn off your Windows firewall for the duration of your time participating in Internet multiplayer.
If you want to create or join an Internet multiplayer game, and you are connecting through a router, you will require properly setup Network Address Translation (NAT) & Port Address Translation (PAT). Please contact your hardware manufacturer for more information.
When having a firewall and starting multiplayer for the first time it is needed to start game in windowed mode. Firewall requests can be accepted then and the game needs to be closed and restarted in full screen.
Game Instability
Problems playing audio files can cause instability, although this may not be obvious to the end-user. Therefore, if you experience any game instability at all, please review the information on the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920872

* Try reducing the level of Sea Detail within your Options menu. To do this:
1. Launch the game.
2. Select Options from the main menu or pause menu.
3. Reduce the LOD by sliding the bar under Sea Details (second option in the left column) to the left.
* If you experience any instability within the game, attempt to restart the PC and launch the game again, and ensure to save frequently.
* Please also see the information on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815069/ for further tips and advice on running games software on Microsoft Windows.

not only there's SF on the patch, but now there are even more files with SF on them, so a no cd crack has to modify even more files. Plus, from what i read on their forums, some guys have more complaints about this patch than they did with the unpatched version.
