The ONLY thing that will ever keep me interested in MMO's will be when they enter the age of the single-player games.
You know what i mean. Even tough many mmo's nowaydays try so hard to move away from the point-and-click system, its still a LONG way to go til it reaches the standards of offline games, even online games.
Imagine an mmo of Unreal Tournament, and mmo like Oblivion and/or Dark Messiah. An mmo like Titan Quest.
Until mmo's become so responsive and smooth (98% of them all are buggy, and 1% of those who are not is WoW ^^), i wont be interested for long. I'm not talking about instantly getting the best equipment, im just talking about things happening when you click, moving freely with WASD, aiming freely, jumping if u want, doing what You want. Not within a grid system.

WoW is not buggy? LOL, WoW is still in beta man, the players are nothing but crash test dummies for Blizzard.

Such freedom won't be possible until we move to quantum networking, the internet of today is simply just too slow to process that kind of realtime information.
If it should be done today you would have to 'interlock' people in "encounters" where they would be able to move and do directional damage freely against eachother and the environment, but having it on a large scale like you see with unreal tournament or cs even with per pixel damage location on such a grand scale....impossible.
Sure theres attemps like huxley but it won't be the "huge" thing you can get with a ton of people button mashing 13448472957 against eachother as there would just be too much data to process.
Someone will likely come and call me a liar, but this is something I'm actually working on for a living.
Yes there will be (and is currently) systems "emulating" this in the near future but they won't(isn't) be the real deal.
The best example of this working as good as currently possible is with the battlefield games, but they are not mmo's so they do not have alot of data to process, an fps is a fairly simple affair.

Thats why i thought Ultima X would be good, you use the wasd keys and you could jump, so if someone casted a spell or shot an arrow, you could jumb out of the way, more like a third person action game. I loved UO, UX would havce been good

Have you seen ingame movies of Age of Conan? The fighting system is totally different. VERY little are simular to Anarchy Online.
ANd there is LOTS of blood, and none in AO. Riding an animlal looks better than in games like wow.

Yes, I've played Anarchy online, fact is, Funcom are lazy ones, there are bugs in AO that has existed since the start, they imported skins from anarchy online to age of conan, they have gaute godager as their game director, AKA the butcher of anarchy online (made shadowlands that had ZERO relevance with the original anarchy online story), the game idea is nice, but the company in particular can't take care of their community.
