Thanks man, but I will skip this game all together. COH on the horizon and Cothic 3 will have my full attention. Did not like the demo of DMOMM...so.

Really really really loooong loading times, laggy and when I finished first game the game would stuck at loading. So, I only played one game so far.
And the engine eats so much resources. It's nice to update the engine, but I'm talking about ~15 fps in open areas with half the settings I use in Ep1....

This game kicks. I don't seem to have the incredible lag alot of you seem to be experiencing. Smooth as silk. Load times ARE longish. Not horribly, but enough to where I could get by with a wizz between loads (lol) But I defragged and they lessened a tad. And the source engine is still HAWT! Love the graphics. If Oblivion had this games combat system, I wouldn't have stopped playing it. (never finished it.)

single player demo ran very sweet on my rig then again my pcs is better then average. if you complain about the game being laggy then spend some god damn cash on ur computer tight asses

It's not laggy because of bad frames(30+) or bad ping. It's just laggy! I will try it again later tonight but I hope they release an update because it still needs optimisations.
I don't have a top end machine but a 3.2GHz P4 and a 7800GT should run it ok, don't you think?

pfffft, be games run better on ATi than Nvidia cards.

I have a 7800GT and I get super smoothness. I have an AMD Athlon X2 3800+ and an eVGA 7800GT CO. + a gig of ram (512x2) It sounds like you have a ram shortage, or you hav lots of memory hogs in the background Poullou. And Deelix, Your fanboyism is blinding me with its obviousness. >.> |

I will try all the usual defrag, fix errors, pray things again when I get home. Hopefully, this time it will be ok.
I heard something about setting the game to affinity(HT here). I will try that as well. Maybe that's the problem.

Guys, if you have long times, set texture quality to medium. High takes an hour to load, med. takes 1 min. Lower the sound quality as well.
If you still get long load times, get a little app. called O&O Defrag, and defrag the portition Steam is by file letters. This should take care of the problem.

I think the beta is open to everyone by now. Whoever, wants to try it, log into gamespot with a free account and request a key to activate via steam and enter beta. They are changing map every ~10 days and they make balancing issues updates at the same time. Hopefully, todays update optimised it a bit...

It's not the full 3 GB. If you have the basic source engine files from other steam games installed, its far smaller than the whole game size.
EDIT: it's still laggy for me, because the closest server is ~110 ping. Although, CSS plays perfect with even higher ping than this...maybe optimizations issues.
