Via Joystiq, an article on the InCrysis site about the multiplayer modes of the Crysis PC game. The jawdropping title seems to mostly be offering the same-old same-old ... except when it comes to the 'Power Struggle' mode. From the Joystiq post: "To successfully destroy the other team's HQ, you'll have to harness the power of alien technology. Randomly generated throughout each map are various crash sites where players can scavenge for alien cores. These energy sources can be used to transform your team's arsenal into weapons capable of achieving victory. However, you'll first have to build up that arsenal by capturing structures that manufacture basic weapons and vehicles -- and you'll also have to provide the manufacturing materials. Apparently, it can take up to 10 hours to launch an attack capable of winning a Power Struggle match. In-game, this feels like days, as one full day/night cycle is completed in two hours. Which means, yes, Crysis' multiplayer will feature dynamic light cycles as the icing on the cake."

Well, there are lots of gameplay trailers out, so guess so. But you can't really judge that much from them. I think it looks really nice, i think Far Cry was a great game... so whats this gonna be then Very Happy

This is farcry style gameplay, not BF style gameplay. They are completely different.

hahahaha, i guess i made a mistake in that question. Crytek should have been Farcry and all should make sense Very Happy
I guess now that EA is the publisher they wont do it anyways. Was nice to be a beta-tester for farcry but i guess i dont have a problem with waiting in line like all the others to get my dirty hands on crysis =)

Apparantly, all we've seen of Crysis is indeed only DX9. A prototype of the DX10 version was showed in closed sections to some journsalists, and they say the difference in Visual Quality between DX9 and DX10 on vista is like xbox to xbox360 Rolling Eyes

Quote:

As impressive as the destruction was, it looked very ordinary compared to what we got to see next: a simulation of what Crytek hopes Crysis will look like when played using DirectX 10. To try to describe just how impressive the simulation looked with mere words seems a futile gesture, but know that everything had realistic physics (this was especially noticeable in the leaves of palm trees when they were toppled), that the resulting smoke and dust particles in the air shifted with gusts of wind, and that the shafts of light coming down through the jungle canopy showed off these effects quite beautifully. It doesn't seem like much of a stretch to say that comparing the DX9 and DX10 (simulated) versions would be akin to comparing Xbox and Xbox 360 versions of the same game; the simulation really looked that good.

Quote:

Although DX10 and Vista aren't final yet, we also saw a demonstration of what Crytek hopes to achieve with the Vista version of Crysis, and we can honestly say it's the most impressive game visually that we've ever seen. If the final code is anywhere close to the demo we saw, playing Crysis is going to be very close to playing an interactive live action movie.

i can imagine that it will be amazing, considering that farcry was also pretty much ahead of its time gfx-wise. Other studios like id, valve or the unreal guys also have a track-record for making great games, but all the big ones problem is timing. They usually tend to release their games with alot of push-backs. Only id has managed to pretty consistantly amaze me still. And judging from the videos i dont see anybody else even near that kind of realism in a game at the moment. Cant wait to play it Very Happy

Speaking at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Bernd Diemer, senior game designer of Crytek, explained that next-generation consoles don't offer enough computational power to run Crysis, German publication Heise reported.

Although Crysis will support both current and the next version of DirectX, the developer claims that only DirectX 10 allows the game to run as it was intended by the developers because the next-generation DirectX API, which will ship along Windows Vista, allows more effects and more objects to be drawn on the screen with a smaller computational cost for the hardware.

Diemer explained that "next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power" to assure the quality of gameplay Crytek demand for Crysis.

Bwahahahahah take that console kiddies !!

The fun thing is, these guys, which we can all agree on that FarCry was THE most beautiful and graphically advanced game of its time, and now Crysis, actually used pirated copies of 3d studio max when creating content for FarCry Very Happy Very Happy
Kinda takes the morale issue (as if there was one) away from downloading their upcoming game Wink
