It really pisses me off that developers dont develop for the PC first and /then/ port it to the console. Why?
1.) Easier porting from PC to a console system
2.) PC version is not gimped
3.) You dont look like a lazy ass dev studio for pushing out a shitty PC version
This game is OK, but the graphics really kill it for me. It really is consolfied down with all that blurry unrealistic shit. I feel like a small person snuck into my eyeballs and took sandpaper to my lenses.

how is it easier to develop a game for a multitude of configurations first, and then have to redo everything so it can work on one specific configuration? its easier to make a game for consoles first, and then toss that same game onto pc with a few resolution improvements. heh not the other way around. now when ps3 arrives the whole console to pc porting issue will be alot less difficult. so pc fanboys can hate on consoles all they want, but the stronger the console the better the port will be for PC.

maybe the game's mod friendly ? so people can mod how the cars moves ? ... big maybe.
also there's bending vegetations in the pc version. and probably other stuff that you mentionned.

Who cares if x360 or PC is better, just enjoy the demo. Besides, this is the PC games section.
For once this game is not a simple attempt at re-creating the GTA Effect but simply a game in itself.
Grand Theft Auto was the first game to open gamers to free-roaming and large scale freedom and it worked really well so it's quite normal for other games that wish to aim the same effect do have similar features yet I believe JC is the first to reach a similar effect without actually appearing as a dumbed-down GTA.
I really like game genres where the player develops his own stories. This genre has been around for a long time with RPGs but the GTA style of gameplay brings the same RPG effect to a more massive group of gamers. Everyone will love the parachute and Mission Impossible stunts be it that people prefer the keyboard and mouse or other people prefer the joypad. Be it that the x360 has better post-processing effects and the PC is more standardized for obvious reasons yet the game still reaches its main goal; obtain the effect GTA unleashed.
This does not, however mean that Just Cause will sell like GTA did and still does for the simple reason that Rockstar were the first and they established a reputation with the GTA Franchise so with GTA4 the sales are already predictable while on the other hand, Eidos and Avalanche releasing this type of game has no established expectations besides the buzz they create while developing Just Cause. So, in other words, the comparison between this game and any GTA is unfair because GTA has a step ahead already but, the comparison between Just Cause's free-roaming and GTA's free-roaming is good. Avalanche did exactly like Orson Wells did; they gathered alot of cool stuff from other games and blended it together to create their own game which will indeed be a good game.
To conclude, there is no necessity to compare the PC Demo of Just Cause with any GTA games nor with the Xbox360 Demo.

sadly the feeble minds of the consumer gamer see a game that involves going whereever you want and being able to drive and hold a gun as a GTA clone. it was a successful idea so it got copied, and its gonna get copied more n more until its all dried up. notice the WW2 fps' are slowly dying off?

Actually Rockstar brought forth a different style of gameplay and it is not copied but simply adapted to different tastes. Within the game industry, everything has already been done, it is only a matter of improvement and change of flavor. The game Half-Life 2 is extremely successful and a very good game in itself yet nothing in there is new, it is simply well adapted and flavored. If you know the recipee will work, the real risk is to make it worth. Rockstar used basic Action RPG principles and applied them to their game thus creating Grand Theft Auto yet nothing was new but they were the first to do it hence why they are a step ahead. The real goal for a dev studio when they wish to make a game that has similarities to GTA is not to create what happened with GTA but to do something differently flavored and that is why we have seen so many games that were similar to GTA.
Of course it will eventually wear out just like everything. Gaming follows trends, just like all mediums and they are not using the concepts until people get bored of it but until another studio brings forth a new genre or a new style that will again revolutionize games and make people forget about the GTA style and that is why people constantly compare all free-roaming games to GTA simply because GTA changed the face of gaming and is represented as a landmark in that style of gameplay. No other game that bears the similarities of GTA will revolutionize anything since it's been done already, they are just different flavors. Just Cause brings a new eye on the matter with the Super Agent style of Rico. People tend to look at games similar to GTA with a negative view simply because they expect a new GTA.
Until a new game comes up to revolutionize the gaming world, the studios can only do one thing; go with the flow.
That is exactly what Avalanche and Eidos are doing.

feels like boiling point to me but under better engine..its arcady and its fun altough, i expected a bit more cause they started to work on this one preety while ago. also, i hate the big and open vs quality and gfx cause bad looking game and cheap effects from my pov ,kills the fun and the potential goe's down. example for game who took big maps and keept great quality is farcry, but what i am traying to say is that i preffer small maps and better quality..don't climb on a tree that too big for you to get the birds..go for smaller one and you may have better chance;)

it has some similarities but if you actually played both you see it has nothing to do with "total overdose". It's not as "cartoonish", no bullet time, bigger world.
I think the best way to describe Just Cause is "Tommy Vercetti in Columbia on amphetamines"

You guys should be ashamed !!! this is the PC GAMES forum on a very well known PC forum FFS everyone knows the PC has better graphics than the 360 (if your not a console fanboy) I can play this in 1600 * 1200 with 4XAA and 16 X ANISO try that with your little box it looks verry good here !!!!
Oh and BTW good luck playing this with a gamepad HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH !

ok read what you typed here..think about it..then come to the realisation that for starters the ps3 is in no way more powerful than the xbox360. Infact its prolly a little slower if anything due to bottlenecks. Then look again. ok now what you should be realising is the PS3 architecture and programming is so far removed from a windows PC it actually takes a lot longer to cross port from the ps3 to the PC. But dont take my word for it google and you'll find plenty of interviews with devs that have gone on the record about this.
So in summary the whole console porting issue (as far as the PS3 is concerned) will be MORE difficult..great logic there buddy
