This is a custom fix designed to get the Darkstar.One-RELOADED release working!
This will be by no means easy so please read carefuly. There are no promises
that this is going to be fully working, we are just trying our best to help you
guys play the game.

1. First you need a clean install of DSO, no cracks, no patches, nothing!
Make sure there are no leftover files from previous installations!
2. Run DsoFixer.exe, Type the DSO directory, default location is
C:\Program Files\Darkstar One. Click patch and if all goes well move on.
3. Delete the following files from the Darkstar root:

- eng.xml
- fra.xm
- inputwrap.dll
- shfolder.exe
- xinput1_1.dll

4. Extract the files inside DSO Replacement Files.rar to the Darkstar One root.
5. Check you darkstar root for these two files:

- darkstarone.exe
- darkstarone.org

If they are there it al went wel! and enjoy the game.

Follow these instructions to the letter and you should get it working!

I've tried it on my freshly installed reloaded release, and no probs whatsoever, but seems to be version 1.0.1270. The size of the fix is 119mb.
O, forgot to say: no dvd is needed for this one.

Gonna try the reloaded fix now.

The update 1.2 is still beta isnt it? Maybe RLD cant crack beta patches because of scene rules once pasted in hoodlums nfo? I guess as soon as the patch retails you will find a crack for it but no one shouldnt be a beta tester slave for a company that brings a alot of bugged garbage every time.

DONT MAKE YOURSELF A BETA SLAVE FOR GERMAN GARBAGE Smile

Last time I checked USA was actualy a part of "The world", so no matter how good it is, it can't be better or bigger (whatever you mean by >). "Rest of the world" makes more sense, oh wait, no it doesn't, since I guess you're american Smile

I've played DS1 all day and here are my thoughts:

i still don't get it... why the system reqs are so high Confused I've seen nothing spectacular... but i've seen the meteor fields.. And it's almost unplayble in there... (my poor old 5700le...) This is another unoptimised game..

In game... the comparison with freelancer is inevitable. I feel that the galaxys are not full of life like freelancer... And everywere it's the same structure:

trading station, reserch station, hidden pirates and asteroids... and so far it's all.. I hope later there will be at least military stations and bigger objects.. Th fact that so far i can't land on the planets makes them part of the background and nothing more...
And you can't scavange the enemys ship wrecks but only bosses.. great... Sad
oh and in last place.. always this first person view....

the good things are the plasma gun extras, the option to charge energy from engines to weapons and vise versa... and.. the bink movies Smile

so far is not as good as i hoped... may be gotta play more..

Feel free to move to one. I thoguht it was really funny how all those people who claimed they would move if such and such happened (and then it happened) never actually moved. Including some hollywood stars. LOL

Nope all works just fine here. Did you delete the old DSO folder before you did the reinstall?

Is it just me or is there no Smuggle button when you go into Trading Stations? There used to be one.

Right on deelix.

As you progress in the game and get more keys to other systems this games actually comes alive much more. You get more missions and side quests, better weapons and equipment off course. The main quest also generates more side quests as you go along. Still, you blast a lot of pirates and baddies but some how the tempo gets faster somehow and it does not feel so repetitive as in the beginning.

Basically each system has its own race of creatures which also makes the game more interesting graphically as each race has its own architecture of ships and stations, as well as weapons etc. I really like this game as its simple, easy to grasp quickly and there is off course a lot of arcadish style space battling with lock on rockets, emp pulse weapons, lasers and other goodies.

The ship is your RPG character in this game as that's what you upgrade with the so called artifacts to unlock new and better weapons, defensive systems and other technical stuff.

All in all an excellent Space battle RPG with a lot of action.

I've just returned my store-bought copy to the store for a credit, after 3 days of play. Have to say, I'm really quite disappointed. Nice-ish gfx (almost a cross between Freelancer and X3), but with repetitive gameplay mechanics, boring and cookie-cutter space combat encounters, lacklustre equipment choices... I'm going to reinstall Freelancer and the TNG mod.

After dl'ing both the RELOADED and german releases as well as the demonoid fix (however, never installing any), I finally tried the game last night with the RELOADED fix....Game played fine for the first hour or so - but after coming out of the first asteroid mission, I started to notice weird gfx glitches (solid yellow bars behind the afterburner meter and other icons). I do believe the game still hasn't been cracked properly - Congratulations to TAGES...at least my dvd drive still works...(in reference to previous experiences with STARFORCE).

logue, on your rig it will run fine on max settings without FSAA activated, or at medium settings with FSAA x2.
And i played it for nearly 4hours yesterday, absolutely no crash or graphical glitch. This game reminds me of the good ol' Elite. Even the entering of trading bases is done simmilarly. Plus the trading part also the same(buy food from agricultural planets, sell it to industrial ones, rince and repeat). Very nice game, not overly complicated, not too simple either

For those of you who got the same low-fps-bug as me, heres a tip:

Alt+tab everytime you get low fps, and alt+tab back into the game.
Fps jumps from 10 to 50.

I hate you.
