Good job on template, looks to be a nice game, but it still isn't released, and no indication that it's about to be released either.

After reading up on this and finding that the developers are the ones who did "Homeworld: Cataclysm", I must say i'm looking forward to this sleeper

i don't get it
this game has a fairly nice premise that could be taken seriously, but they baffle it all up with making it silly with the ugly cartoons and silly "woppeeee" voice work
i could always turn the voices off (like i very quickly did in the demo) and ignore the graphics, but the gui is just very undeveloped
it's so damn far from anything like galactic empires, while being almost identical in core design
it feels like the game was started by someone who clearly had a clear and beautiful vision, but who left immediately after the core of the engine was laid down, and then some team who made something like earthworm jim or something - took over and tried to make it something completely different, and then it was just released halfway there, so it's a bit of everything, but nothing taken into completion
it had a lot of good ideas in the core design
but not a good game at any unit of measurement

that's a pity.
what's up with the cartoon shit anyway? it's like what they did to poor team fortress 2.
hell, the 7 year old screenshots look better than the new ones.
It's probably just a question of taste but I really can't stand something like that.

Me neither, but I think it's called the "WoW effect" everything has to look cartoony to be successfull, or the charecters have to be stereotypes, how shallow our games are becoming.

Yeah, you install the program from there assign a folder it should download to, when the installation of sword of the stars begin you go to that folder and extract that oddly numbered sfx rar'ed file there and presto you got the installation as if you would've got it in a store, to burn on cd or put in your local iso library for later use
And btw, it's loads of fun, i'm destroying planets here...well first I shower those damn fleshbags with nukes then I use my dreadnaught (thats no moon) to cut right through the planet until it itself explodes, genocide is always so damn fun!

Contrary to what I said about this title in my Empires V thread, this game is great, the tech tree is near infinite, the ai continues to surprise me, the complexity of the research actually has an impact on how you can or can't play the game it doesn't just give you higher accuracy or more damage on some weapons, no it opens up entirely new aspects of the game all the time, so you actually feel all those money you put into research has an effect on how you play the game, even on the level of strategy you can employ or what your shipcaptains can do of maneuvers, all of this means you get more and more immersed in it and steadily you actually fall into that charecter your playing; like humans striving for survival, or like me EAT MEATBAGS!..erm yes hiver is plenty fun, if a bit slow way of playing - they have no hyperdrive nor can they get any...
Now I honestly don't believe I will have time for empires V the moment it comes out, right now I can't wait to try this out with some friends in lan "some of the technologies you can research can directly help your friends if they're allied to you, and I don't mean like giving them resources "
Anyways here's to new opinions and beliefs

I just read the review and they metioned a cloaking device.
So did you get any cloaking device and more importantly is it useful?
