Shit like this is the reason I dont buy shit or make money transactions over the internet.

Wouldnt removing funds from your account without notice constitute a privacy violation? If i had a paypal account, i wouldnt be comfortable with the fact that they can just remove funds for no reason (or very little reason)...

I use paypal, but I don't have an account. (don't sell stuff) I just use one credit card and let the credit company know I was only using this card on the net and very little at that. I have protection on this particular card.

I wonder if these aren't a few bitchy people complaining. That buy and cancel payment stuff has been going on for years.

Credit card seems to be the way to go, banks are usually pretty good about any fraud.

Not according to shows like Dateline and 60 Minutes. From what i gather, credit card theft is a huge problem in Canada and the US.

Here in sweden if you suffer from credit card theft and spare all recieps, show them to the bank you will be fine. I have been a victim of it once. I bought some stuff in a norwegian shop, two days later 8000SEK were missing from my account. Checked with the bank when I got home again and someone had used those money in fucking brazil.

Showed them my recieps and had my entire family tell them we were in Norway and not brazil. Got all money back, everything. Of course I got a new card too...

I saw a special on dateline the other week about how if someone (this is for the US tho) steals your credit card or bank account or whatever, your essentially responsible for the fee's they rack up. They are trying to get this changed.
It happened to my brother.
Someone broke into his car and stole his wallet. They went on a spending spree with the card. The cc company allowed time for an investigation and the ppl responsible werent found and he had to pay the bills. I dunno if those are the exact details, but i know he got stuck with the bullshit.
