This game went gold recently, anyone aware of it? Should be good fun, over 35 puzzles. Supposed to have been released today. There was an earlier version of safecracker a few years back. This new version is by kheops studios, who made voyage, return to mysterious island, echo secrets of the lost caverns ( which I'm currently playing ) , egyptian prophecy, and their latest secrets of da vinci - the forbidden manuscript. Not to be confused with the da vinci code.

is there any reason to expect this remake would be any better than the godawful original? (didn't play it, but it got horrid reviews)
i'm all for puzzles and adventures when they're good
it's just that when they make a puzzle adventure game, it's usually just a puzzle game with nice graphics and a time limit, which is somehow supposed to connect you to the game in some way (which it never does)

Well I think this game is more puzzle than adventure. Is there any reason to expect this remake would be any better than the original? No idea. All I can say is this. Have you played any kheops games and did you like them? If the answer is yes, then you're sure to like this version of safecracker.

voyage and echo were dreadful
vinci seemed better but i haven't played too far yet to make up my mind
i'll definately give this a twirl in any case
i just hope they don't have any time limit "puzzles"

I'm playing echo at the moment. I'm finding it the hardest of all the kheops games. Vouyage I absolutely loved. Secrets of Da Vinci was a nice game too.

hehhee
kinda cool in it's own silly way
i just hope they paid as much attention to the game
as with modern films, many games have double the effort and budget to promote the game than there ever was to develop it
news on a demo?
could only find one for the ancient one

that one is a simple letter offset cypher
just turn the wheel and try match the letters from the one below to the ones on the wheel until you find one position where they start making words
i don't think either given number by hegys was correct
the $£€Y one is sudoku with symbols instead of numbers
do it on paper with numbers first
easier
i played it for a long while yesterday
until i came up to a puzzle that just plain demands too much work to be enjoyable
goddammit, i like brain teasers like the ones before that, and perhaps some amount of paper work
but that one is ridiculous
the one with the broken keypad
i'd like to skip it
not because it's too hard - cos it's not - but because it's too much work repeative to be any fun

Cheers s_hole, that's useful information to get me going. Well I finally managed to do the slider $ puzzle. It was very similar to one they had in return to mysterious island. Kept going in circles towards the end the few pieces until I was like' wait, I've done it, yay! '
That puzzle you're on does sound worrying. I haven't come across it yet.
Have you played keepsake yet? Great game, with some tough puzzles. This one below I'm finding hard. Just gotta get the dragon to it's cavern bottom left corner. Looks easy, but the various pieces can only be moved by swapping with certain pieces, such as the mage can be swapped with gnome and dragon, but not mage with anything else. And the brick walls can't be swapped with. Man, I still haven't cracked it, been on it for days.

Cheers. I don't really understand what he said though. I dunno, just one of those puzzles I can't get my head around.
