a patch is coming... and I wasn’t bitching there for nothing. This game is fun but has some flows in it. I think even the developers said that they are going to be working on a patch. But I don’t think that they are going to add something useful to it. Only fixing the minor bugs.

PS: sometimes the AI is evil and 1% of the time it sucks so badly that you can get 1 lap ahead of them Laughing

But usually the AI always is ahead of you. That catch up system makes even the slowest cars move like rockets Twisted Evil

When Flatout patch came out among all of fixes they added the option to turn off driver window break. So I assume they could fix catchup.

The catch up system is sometimes OK and even FUN Very Happy Its not a fuckup system like the NFS MW had. Its more "forgiving". But sometimes I think it has some bugs (to easy or to difficult catch-up)

If they added some things like manual gearbox, chat function in multiplayer (in lobby chat and in game chat), to be enable to select how many laps you want to race in SP (I'm the type that likes to smash every one until I’m the only car left but its quite difficult on some laps Wink )

In some way the multiplayer is even better than the SP game. You can select the damage level, how many laps, witch car (like you can select a car and everyone else has to use the same car or different car) is allowed in the server, how strong is the nitro, 0%, 50% or 100% upgraded car etc.

The driver window break should not be turned off. It’s fun. BUT this time in flatout 2 the drivers don’t fly so easily like they did in flatout 1. This time you have to hit the wall or ram someone really hard to get the driver out of the seat. So its fine. I liked the flatout 1 way better sometimes because I was the one who use to enjoy kicking the AI drivers out of their cars Laughing

its because (they said so and in some way its true) they wanted the player to have more car to car action or else the player would drive alone most of the time . So that’s why there is some so called "rubber band" effect in the game. But yeh it sucks that only 2 drivers usually are near you. But they should have made better AI or smt. But catch up system is easier or what Rolling Eyes

But don’t worry its not like the NFS MW catchup system that was 100% fucked up. My fully upgraded muscle car lost a race to a fiat or smt shit like that... Evil or Very Mad

And its fun to ram everyone out of the race and drive the last half of the lap alone

Quote:
The "rubber band" effect on the AI is to keep the pack together to ensure there's more driver vs driver action. If there was none of the catch-up, everyone would be driving alone, 8 cars spread out over the whole track. However, having said that, the rubber band effect isn't constant. On the last lap it starts to fade out, and by the time you're on final straight, it's completely off so there shouldn't be unrealistic last-second high-speed overtakings that plagued FO1 to some extent.

Quote:
Actually the catchup system works in the complete opposite way as you think.

The AI drivers never cheat, they use exactly the same physics as you. In fact you cheat against them, since there's some additional force that makes it easier to smash them out.

Instead when the drivers are int the catchup mode. Then they drive to their full potential, some drivers are much more prone to making mistakes in that mode though, others are excellent in this mode.

They are adding multiplayer chat functionality in the patch and some other stuff. They are not removing catch-up or adding a rear-view mirror, though.

OK, I have honestly just spent about 3 hours trying to get it working and I have. Now If you have 2 computers networked this is possible but there are many steps and will take a long time but I swear it does work,

First things first you have downloaded the right one, this seems to only work with this blindwrite thing.

Things to understand in guide:
Computer A is the computer you are going to play the game on, Computer B is the networked computer where the game is NOT going to be played on.

To install the game you don't have to burn the image to disc just get Daemon Tools (v 4.03) and get bw5mount (explained later on) and install the game to computer A.

1) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 2 COMPUTERS NETWORKED!

2) Install Alcohol 120 %( v 1.9.5 build 4212) and Daemon Tools (v 4.03) onto computer B

3) Install Alcohol 120 %( v 1.9.5 build 4212) onto Computer A

4) Make sure that iSCSI service is installed and running (installs with Alcohol).

5) Copy the extracted files "Flatout 2.b00, Flatout 2.b02, Flatout 2.B6I and Flatout 2.B6T" to Computer B

6) Go to this site http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~dtbartle/bw5mount.zip and download it to computer B. It will download bw5mount. Copy the .dll into deamon ttools plugins/images folder (it will say do u wish to overwrite file, say yes) MAKE SURE DEAMON IS CLOSED AND UP TO DATE

7) Mount "Flatout2.B6T" in deamon tools on computer B

icon_cool.gif The deamon tools drive on computer B now needs to be shared. To do this go into Alcohol and share it. (detailed thing here http://support.alcohol-soft.com/knowledgebase.php?postid=20310&title=Share+drives+over+network
ONLY READ DOWN TO Using a remotely shared drive with Mcft iSCSI Software Initiator AS I WILL EXPLAIN ABOUT THAT NEXT)

9) After you have switched on the sharing you need to go back to computer A and download this:
http://www.Mcft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=12cb3c1a-15d6-4585-b385-befd1319f825&DisplayLang=en

I downloaded the Initiator-2.02-QFE-bld1895-x86fre.exe and it worked for me, the others didn't.

10) This is the program that you will use to connect to the networked drive. To understand how to use this program go to this site again
http://support.alcohol-soft.com/knowledgebase.php?postid=20310&title=Share+drives+over+network
and read on from Using a remotely shared drive with Mcft iSCSI Software Initiator

11) you should now be able to see the networked CD drive in your My Computer on computer A.

12) Try running the game on computer A, you should now get a diffrent error message, if you keep retrying "check disc" then it will finally load!

I know it is long and you may not belive me but why would I sit here typing all this up if it didn't! I started trying to get this working at 1Am it is now 6am basicly! If any one needs help or dosn't understand anything plz post as I will get back on here for the next few days to help any one out.

I am now going to post this in the other flatout 2 torrents to try and help other people.

Peace

.
