well i was reading the blitz thread and just got me thinking

The main ones are

Blitzkrieg
Sudden Strike
Codename Panzers (demo)
Soldiers: Heroes of World War II (demo)
Desert Rats vs Afrika Corps
+ More

And like just wondering what ones u think and why ?

My order would be..

Soldiers: Heroes of World War II (demo) (By far)

Desert Rats vs Afrika Corps

Then the rest..

Why ? cause soldiers has the best ai by ALONG way.. the best gameplay.. the best control.. the best and most advanced tactics ... the best graphics etc..

Then desert rats.. cause its more like soldiers than the rest (Like the tanks act different on where u hit them.. how u hit them etc.. (trax might fall off but turrent still works.. etc)

Codename panzers demo seemed a little bit.. "Cartoon" .. but still OK

Then the rest Very Happy

So yeah what do u guys think and why ?

1) Blitzkrieg V1.2 : German campaign rules, good gfx/sound, mods etc. only AI sucks

2) Blitzkrieg Expansion(s): Same reasons (AI sucks)

3) Desert Rats vs... : Looks good, but story mode sucks. And if your hero dies, whole mission is screwed Sad

Sudden strike sucks...I'll be waiting Panzers, 'cos destructabel environments and great GFx impressed me long time ago..

Mayby I have to check that WW2, if it's any good Very Happy... Sad that i cant mention Silent Storm and Sentinels (tbs as they are)...So my question is: Do you like rts or tbs more??? My vote would be TBS, 'cos SS is the best game on this genre, since forever!

Well I liked the demo of Codename Panzers way more than the demo of Soldiers (maybe because the second one ran like shit on my pc, don't know exactly why :/). But I'm waiting for both.

And I really like Blitzkrieg + expansion.

for me codename panzers was kinda... basic and cartoonish ?

and soldiers has better gfx imho.. and the little details and shit..

like in soldiers im sure there are like 12 different hit points on the tanks so depending on which of them u hit different things happen...

I donno.. dont get me wrong.. codename panzers was cool..

But the AI in soldiers imho seems unmatched by along way... and the tiny little things.. guys getting shot at .. there helmet falling off.. so they fall over.. then find some cover... guys running outta ammo in close range so taking off there helmet and throwing them at etc.. Very Happy

But hey personal choice is all good! Very Happy

Codename: Panzers will be good and so will S:HoWW2. Panzers though is still working on a level that past WW2 games have already done while Soldiers takes it to the next level. Soldiers is more geared towards a smaller number of units. The engine Soldiers uses, imo, is better looking and definately more realistic. For instance in Panzers buildings use the old life bar thing so shooting it with say, a tank, will take away from it's life bar. Soldiers, buildings have no life. It's a building after all. Shoot it with a tank and it will blow that part of the building off, killing anything that might be caught in the blast or falling debris.

Panzers to me is just a polished, more refined Sudden Strike with better graphics. It's still playing by the old rules. Soldiers isn't.

Also since Soldiers is taking it a step farther with it's game engine you may need to upgrade to play it. It all depends if you want to take the next step or stick to a game that plays like the last game you played.
