Hey..
So what do i write in the hosts file to prevent it from checking the authorization server? Tried blocking it with windows firewall, didnt work..

except the game was patched a couple times, the most recent patch being 1.2 i believe, and since patch 1.04 the copy protection was removed from the game/exe. theres still a cdkey check tho, but if you go into the hosts file and add these three (all three just to be sure)
127.0.0.1 q4master.idsoftware.com
127.0.0.1 idnet.ua-corp.com
127.0.0.1 192.246.40.28
and then in case your key isnt working, go to the game folder, q4base folder, and the quake4key file -> open in notepad and add a serial on the first line (might be blank meaning the game wiped the last attempt at an invalid key). make sure the key you enter in the quake4key file is just letters/number, no dashes
funny because i just did this literally last nightm randomly decided to play quake 4 so i installed it and had to figure all that out on my own
