Has anyone really succeeded in getting it to work on Vista build 5456? I managed to install and start daemon tools 3.33, but when I try to mount the image I get the error message "Unable to mount image. Invalid TOC specified". Any ideas?

that is vista beta 2, just a newer version. ive heard ppl say they got it to work in 5456 of vista, but most ppl are using the more-officially-distributed 5385 or whatever it is.

So you have to use an external drive to get this to play? No work-arounds? Is this game worth the bother?

theres a whole different long thread about Flatout 2 game, gameplay, stuff like that in the pc arena forum. this thread is for technical issues only
btw i only just now realized that the 2 or the three different blank dvds i have are ones that would work as specified in the Unleashed nfo... but i dont have an external drive/cable so thats hopeless

Posted: Tue, 1st Aug 2006 08:14 Post subject: BiG THANK YOU 2 EVERYONE! |
|
 |
I wanna thank everyone that woroked he's ass of to find a workaround for this game. I just spend a night working on the alcohol emulation from another pc in my network...It did not worked in one time i can tell you that. But it worked @ the END THANKSSSS!!!!!
Suck wise ppl on here thanks again!
Oh and if you need to convert the Blindwrite image, convert the .B00 FiLE!
here's the guide:
Code: | OK, I have honestly just spent about 3 hours trying to get it working and I have. Now If you have 2 computers networked this is possible but there are many steps and will take a long time but I swear it does work,
First things first you have downloaded the right one, this seems to only work with this blindwrite thing.
Things to understand in guide:
Computer A is the computer you are going to play the game on, Computer B is the networked computer where the game is NOT going to be played on.
To install the game you don't have to burn the image to disc just get Daemon Tools (v 4.03) and get bw5mount (explained later on) and install the game to computer A.
1) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 2 COMPUTERS NETWORKED!
2) Install Alcohol 120 %( v 1.9.5 build 4212) and Daemon Tools (v 4.03) onto computer B
3) Install Alcohol 120 %( v 1.9.5 build 4212) onto Computer A
4) Make sure that iSCSI service is installed and running (installs with Alcohol).
5) Copy the extracted files "Flatout 2.b00, Flatout 2.b02, Flatout 2.B6I and Flatout 2.B6T" to Computer B
6)download bw5mount search for it on the net and download it to computer B. It will download bw5mount. Copy the .dll into deamon ttools plugins/images folder (it will say do u wish to overwrite file, say yes) MAKE SURE DEAMON IS CLOSED AND UP TO DATE
7) Mount "Flatout2.B6T" in deamon tools on computer B
8) The deamon tools drive on computer B now needs to be shared. To do this go into Alcohol and share it. (detailed thing here http://support.alcohol-soft.com/knowledgebase.php? postid=20310&title=Share+drives+over+network
ONLY READ DOWN TO Using a remotely shared drive with Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator AS I WILL EXPLAIN ABOUT THAT NEXT)
9) After you have switched on the sharing you need to go back to computer A and download this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?Fa milyID=12cb3c1a-15d6-4585-b385-befd1319f825&Displa yLang=en
I downloaded the Initiator-2.02-QFE-bld1895-x86fre.exe and it worked for me, the others didn't.
10) This is the program that you will use to connect to the networked drive. To understand how to use this program go to this site again
http://support.alcohol-soft.com/knowledgebase.php? postid=20310&title=Share+drives+over+network
and read on from Using a remotely shared drive with Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator
11) you should now be able to see the networked CD drive in your My Computer on computer A.
12) Try running the game on computer A, you should now get a diffrent error message, if you keep retrying "check disc" then it will finally load! |

I had found it:
"i finally tried the (Microsoft) VirtualPC method and it works.
the important things:
1. u have to make ur virtualPC using network. i simply used the PC's own network card. (u can choose the network type at the settings)
2. in the virtual machines bios you have to turn off ACPI Aware OS.
(hit del to reach the bios)
3. after u installed windows on the virtual machine, link a physical HD (preferably not the one containing ur system, and it makes things simple, if the linked hd contains the .b6t image. otherwise copy the image to this HD.).
now use the iSCSI method, it worked for me. after the game started, u can turn off the virtual machine to spare the memory."

The game is running fine in single player...But when i try to connect to a server the game hangs and i need to restart the comp...After that my 2 HD's are NOT detected! I waited some minutes, and then there were detected again. WTF Whas this shit!? Is this from the starforce software?? I think its fucked up...And i had one blue-screen error in single-player. And that wus the game cause i play bf2 for hours and no problemo...
Can some1 test the mutliplayer for hem and post results?
Thanks in advanced

I've played a couple hours or so online and no problems at all. Maybe a firewall getting in the way?

i think i figured out my single event (race) problem..i was using that Pizza trainer and id rarely let off the nitro so i set a fig8 track, 30 laps and on the 2nd to last lap i hit the nitro during the entire lap and as soon as i was starting the 30th lap the game errored off
maybe ill can teh trainer and see if i can complete a 50 laper
well that was a wrong call...i guess the game just crashes at random times because thats just what it has to do
