I got my PSP 2.60 finally and have a strange problem. I started charging the battery and it started good. But after 5 minutes, the charging light goes off the power doesnt come back. I tried lot of combos. Accidently I found that the psp would start and run fine if I remove the battery out and run it off AC power. I managed to do downgrade and played games for 6 hours w/o any problems. So is it just a dead battery? or something else I should be worried about.

Hmm, might be just a bad battery. Try calling up Sony to demand a replacement.

Tried a new battery and same problem. It starts charging then after sometime the light goes off and battery is still at 13-14% but says charge complete. Should I return the PSP?

Do you really need a second opinion ? of course that not a normal thing for a psp so yes return it where you bought it.
