Seems great so far.

Few bitches:

1. Not enough abilities to spend points on. I end up maxing both sides with 5+ points leftover.
2. Calicco artillery addon to the sherman is extremely overpowered. Can devestate an entire point defense in seconds.

Graphics are slick though, and for the mostpart its well thought out.

Am i the only one incredibly tired with ww2 games? I want to see sci fi / alternate history games with added gameplay elements (hacking etc).

You are just so limited in scope when choosing a real timeperiod, nu rules is the way to go.

Bored of the beta already.
If any mods want in, I could possibly "misplace" my account info, and you could help me "find it" Very Happy

Its novel at first, but every single battle turns out the same way. Too much stalemate.

I'd be happy to help you find it, though I'm not a mod so I guess I don't qualify.

Well, mainly what ruins it for me is that no unit excels in what its supposed to.

Prime Example: AT Guns , AT = Anti Tank. Ergo, one must assume that its PRIME PURPOSE is the destruction of tanks. Yet, in COH, the Allied 57MM AT gun has to be SPECIALLY LOADED with AP rounds. This "load" not only costs you resources, but also only lasts 9 SECONDS. I pose you a question then, what the FUCK is it loaded with before. Shouldn't AT guns be loaded with Armor Piercing ammo as a fucking default? Considering their purpose is TANK DEFENSE. Not according to COH. Real fuckin logic there. Lets load the Anti Tank gun with Anti Personnel rounds. But we'll let you use it for what it was designed for, in spurts of 9 seconds, at the cost of resouces. Ok. Fuck that.

Another Example: Allied Rangers (and I quote the game here: "Elite anti-tank unit"). Elite huh? Is that why they only fire about once every 20 seconds, and it takes 4-5 rear hits (don't even bother frontal, as it won't take a panzer down at ALL), to kill a tank? Much like in BF2, by the time the "elite" unit gets its 4 or 5 rear shots off, the panzer has enough time to turn about face and kill that unit 5 times over. Elite my ass.

Another Example: Grenadier infantry. Completley and utterly pointless. Much like every other "selectable upgradable infantry unit". So I can choose to give them a half assed Panzerfaust (about on the scale of that elite ranger unit), or a half assed MG. Why not just make a pure MG unit in the first place? Once again, pointless.

Lets go again: Iron Cross Infantry. The best of the best. The Reichs knights in shining armor. You bet they are. Withstanding a DIRECT, NON COVERED hit from a 105mm cannon from 10 feet away. Then they simply waltz up, chunk a nade (which you can't order the crew to pick up, and poof, there goes your $1000 defensive asset. Those guys sure had their wheaties for breakfast.

When I build an anti tank gun , it should serve exactly that purpose, anti tank. Not 95% random shit - 5% anti tank.
When I build riflemen, I want riflemen, not some 6x upgraded cross bred shit that has a disposal panzerfaust that takes a tank down 5% and in return sucks against infantry.

The only units I feel they modelled accuratley were Sniper, Mortars, and MG. The rest , simply FUBAR.

I could list 5 or 6 more examples, but no need really. Not even going to touch the special ability trees, as it would most likely exceed max post length.

It looks pretty, there's no denying that, but the unit balance and roles are simply laughable, no matter which side. The point capture system they pretty much just expanded upon DoW, and they ripped the cross-breeding unit upgrades from there directly, which imo is what fucks tihs title so much. No innovation. They went with what they knew, regardless of whether it could apply to a realism based RTS (as opposed to DoW fantasy).

Regarding AT Guns, yeah it sound a little odd that you can load it with armor picering rounds, but it simply just mean it will do more damage for a few secs (for heavy german tanks like Panthers or Tigers) even without the AP round they are very decent against tanks with very long range.

But in this case the ability called armor picering rounds should just be called something else.

Rangers, i dont know havent tried those. BUt i do know that the allies infantry are very good tank killers in skilled hands with sticky bombs and bazooka upgrade.

And on top of that you may have encounted a higher rank units, these units last longer and do more damage.

And finally almost 2 months before release, alot of tweaking will happend im sure. Like the pathfinding is a little crazy right now.

Thats the problem with these WW2 RTS Immunity. If only they made one that was somewhat realistic. The graphics look great, but playing it and seeing a Sherman withstand frontal armour hits from a Tiger would just make my eyes roll. Very Happy But making it realistic would alienate pretty much everyone who is not "into" WW2.
