|
 |
hey
for those who actually want a legit and cheap way of getting a cz key since CSS is comming out today , just do like i did last night
go on ebay , look for cz cd keys..
u can buy a legit cd key for roughly 15.99 USD
its actually way cheaper than buying the actual retail game.. u can download the games off Steam anyways.. no need for cds and the cd keys are actually valid.. bought mine , registered with steam without a problem , the cd key wasnt used or anything, they guaranty that ..
anyways.. just a quick fix idea

" ATI/CZ users will get turned on later tonight for the CS: Source test
- An update will be out today as well. This is largish (~60 MB).
- The size of the update is due to the Video Stress Test it includes. You'll be able to do some initial performance analysis using this test and report the data back to a central server. The results of the VST will be posted on Steampowered.com.
- HL/2 pre-load will begin tomorrow. It was ready yesterday, but we decided to use the bandwidth to get out the VST first since I get pelted with zillions of questions from people asking how their PC will run Half-Life 2."

I'm surprised they decided to wait till the end of the day in their timezone (which will be the 19th throughout most of the world) till release. With all the bad PR Valve is getting about delays, its a wonder why they dont release it at like 12 noon or something to satisfy their fans, instead of inevitably pissing more people off.
Now you can say its no big deal just a few hours and in the end it makes no difference, but look at this from another point of view. It just adds more bullshit to their name, and makes even more people second guess them over something so small that could have been rectified by just getting it out the door a few hours earlier.
If I had this planned from awhile ago to release today, I would make damn well sure that I got it out as soon as I could, because its no surprise that people are gonna say a few days down the road, "Valve lies blah blah they can barely even get out CS:S on the day they promised it" it just adds more negative feedback. Doesnt make sense to me from a business standpoint, I would be doing EVERYTHING in my power to reverse the negative image of my company, and every little thing counts, and this is definitly one of those little things.

I think they want to avoid a rush onto the content servers, because of these extra 60mb files...I know the first days of steam were horrible, it was lagging like hell and steam was all the time near dieing, because of the heavy traffic. Well we will get the file today in the morning hours so wait. :/

they said that they have servers/connections to even preload hl2 at the highest of high traffic hours. This is just a minor set back for what ever reason they came up with

It doesn't really bother me too much when they get it out, the worst part is the silence.
One of the devs came on the forums and said something like "expect the beta later tonight".. Don't they realize how frustrating something like that is? Night could be a span of several hours, and night has different meaning in different places of the world.
True not a huge deal, but its aggrivation that could easily be avoided if they weren't so silent about everything. More updates and posts (on their own forums..) would be much appreciated.
They have had a rocky journey lately, they should be striving to ease it up for their fans.
