|
 |
Hi, i just downloaded prey and i'm trying to do what the nfo says.Go to your c:windows/system32/drivers/etc and add this to the file
127.0.0.1 preymaster.humanhead.com
Start it up and PLAY!
What file do they mean, i have several files in that directory and none of them are from prey. And even the serial that is provided with the nfo does not work. Can someone help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

Well if you can't find it, do it this was then.
Start - Run. Type CMD.
do "cd.." until you get to C:\ only and nothing else.
Then type:
cd windows
cd system32
cd drivers
cd etc
notepad hosts
And god I hope you know how to press enter and use the commands...
If I go to my c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc I do have a host file there... Its not like its HARD to copy the line where you're supposed to go and paste it into explorer, pressing enter and voila you're there...!

tools-folder options-view-"untick" hide protected operation system files (recommended)
now it shows the HOSTS file at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
rightclick file, open with notepad/ultraedit and add the host
127.0.0.1 preymaster.humanhead.com
file,save

or
click start, run, and paste this
Quote: |
cmd /c echo 127.0.0.1 preymaster.humanhead.com >> %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
|
should work on all comps, whatever your windows installation folder or drive is
you won't get any confirmation, so don't retry it, as it would add a second identical line to the file

This is what the file looks like after completing the directions and this is the path i used c:windows/system32/drivers/etc. Is this how yours looks?
