guh, just reading the topic title makes me pissed off. but anyway (ill save the rants), problem being that whenever someone on the network tries to access my comp, they get a prompt for username/pass and nothing works.

previously, it was working fine, didn't even ask for user/pass, and i can't for the life of me figure out what's changed. anyone got any check lists or anything for this kind of problem?

Have you turned off simple file sharing? An easy work around would also be to create these users on your windows xp machine, with the same name and pwd, after that they shouldn't be prompted anymore.

Windows networking can be a bitch sometimes. It will do random weird stuff for absolutely no reason. Well there is a reason, but it often makes no sense.
