Well I managed to get it running on my system fairly crashfree, after some finetuning.
I'm using the Reloaded copy, at first i installed the game & used the crack, but that resulted into a lot of crashes every 20-30min, 'corrupting' my character file in the process, making it unable for me to load up the character anymore. (crashes again as soon as the loading scene is done)
My system is pretty lowend/average, a 2400+ CPU, 1GB ram, 6600GT.
Game mounted, not burned.
Tried running it at 1280*1024 max detail, no go.
After that i decided to try & tweak the motherfucker into working. 
I uninstalled, reinstalled the game, downloaded the mini-image from Gamecopyworld, and DID NOT use the RLD-crack this time.
Instead used pr0tst0p to hide DT, and curerom 1.2 to run it.
Went back ingame to see if anything changed, the crashes still happened, but cheer! nomore character corruption.
So, either i must've been lucky, or something with the RLD crack results in character corruption.
Changed reflection detail & shadow detail to low (small sacrifise to be able to play crashfree ), and changed Windows Compatbility Mode to Win98/ME.
Again, no clue if all this was just pure coincidence & luck or not, but i now have a l33 Warfare/Spirit char in Epic difficulty, and its only crashed twice since. (without my character ending up being corrupted, most importantly)
There's just something about this game that SCREAMS "MEMORY LEAK INC, GET DOWN!", so it's basicly a matter of lowering its memory usage.
its actually sad having to do such a long writeup to get a game running, but hey, with developers these days you never know. I'm sure missing levels is the next step for the game industry.

Has anyone noticed any differance in crashes and bugs between the two versions? Does reloaded crash more or vice versa? Would be nice if someone could answer this.

Is there any word on a workaround for playing an old character on a different cd key? I'm planning on buying the game but I'd hate to lose the progress I've made with my character so far.

If you backup your save games and re install the game using another key I don't see why not, Also you may be able to key the code into the registry

If you backup your save games and re install the game using another key I don't see why not, Also you may be able to key the code into the registry

you are wrong, caracters is bound to there cd-key, me to have this probelm, but I have one last thing to test then i get the game tomorow, start the game with the old key tehn go in to regedit and put in the payd for key and see if I can play online. If you start the game with the old key youre caracter will be there an d you can edit the key all you want.

dunno if it has been mentioned before but i only crash during portal visits and probably switching between cities too.. sucks when my stash is full >_>.

Was the first thing I tried when my retail version arrived, doesn't work. You need to start a new char if you want to play online with your legit key.

it doesnt work ..if u remove the packed files (*.arc) the game start without textures... so those unpacked files are useless! the game cant use them

my experiences with the stability of the game so far:
I am running it under Win2000 SP4 with rld crack, graphics card is 6800GT - it is well playable, but crashes sometimes (about once per hour to once per two hours). thanks to the well markers, where your hero is resurrected, and these teleporters its not that bad....you only have to save often manually, especially after finding good items....
my luck is: I never got a corrupted savegame by crashing (but for worst case scenario I am making regular backups in the /My Games/Titan Quest/ folder).
but I found out one trick: it may sound weird, but for me the game runs FAR better, if you make the "virtual memory" in windows as SMALL as possible. If you make it too small, you will get an error message from the Titan Quest.exe. try different sizes. I have 1 gig ram and am using a 256 mb window virtual memory swap file now.
Before that I had a 2 gig swap file and the game stuttered horribly in cities, sometimes there were textures missing or corrupted etc. - thats all gone now...

for everyone that wish to change the cd-key and still play with the old-key characters, may try this:

5. Do a TEXT search and search for your cd-key. Include the dashes, type it exactly as it is in your registry key (should match your manual)
6. It will find 2 addresses.
7. Modify both addresses and put in your NEW cd-key
8. Ignore any wierd errors that come up. I got a few and I ignored them and it seemed ok
9. Inside Titan Quest, bring up the option menu and choose SAVE GAME.
10. Now quit everything and switch to your NEW cd-key in the registry.
Congratulations you have transferred your character! |

please just wait 2 days and all bugs crashes will be fixed by the way i think the update will only be working with the unleashed version since the crack is only for the version 1.0
anyway in 2 days finalyl a cool working game.

What wil happen in two days? A patch? If so, that would be nice. The game is very good, but crashing kills a lot of fun, im afraid to use teleporters because the game crushes, so im walking around with a full inventory.

im still using unleashed version since its the only version that lets u burn the disc and still use deamon tools to play with with no crashes and im guessing when the patch comes out u can still patch it up and still play it this way probably fix the crashing thing anyway so :)in two days its time to play and play and play

It's odd though. I only ever crashed in the whole first "chapter" (Greece). I thought it was me switching from using a crack or SecuROM Loader and using CureROM instead since I went through the start of Egypt all the way to the end without crashing at all...
Then I go and start again in the next difficulty, and I once again crashed out of the blue. It was... Well... Not fun. I sometimes wonder if this game is actually a crash-fest, or just has a VERY buggy first "chapter"... |
Yes the three Gorgons. I have seen a few people posting about those problems on the official forum so it doesnt seem like its caused by the crack.
Anyway the mentioned patch, which should be released on the 5th of July, wont do anything with the stability. Reading a dev post on their forum, he only said the patch would fix char corruption problems, and the lousy stacking in the bags. No word about the crashes, but then again he didnt post the whole change log so we might be suprised.
