Yeah looks great. Robot fight is smooth but jungle part is not so smooth. Obviously much less than 60 fps. Probably because there are alot of trees/grass etc they should improve the speed cause i bet they use the best hardware available

Usually optimization doesn't happen until later stages in the development anyway, and there is still at least half a year left of Crysis development - and the chance is always there for a small delay too. Either way, Far Cry was optimized when it came out and I bet this will too. Of course, you can't ever expect it to run smoothly on a medium-end machine with high settings Razz

Game looks awesome and I think it will be cool. It might not be revolutionary in terms of gameplay, but graphics, physics (destructability), and AI are extremely good from what I have seen in the videos.

the same thing happened with oblivion:
before the release everybody were like "OH NOEWS I HOPE THAT MY amd 9000 4 giga ram and 7950 SLi WILL RUN THIS UBER GAME WITH more than 10 fps!!" next thing you know - people are playing the game smooth with a freaking 9800pro on 1024 with everything set on medium-high.
and don't listen to those morons who scream that this won't run without a dx10 card - do you think that they would release a game wich only 3% of the world would be able to run?

I really would like to know on what hardware that was runned. Remembering how well FarCry runned on all hardware, I think it is 1 7950GTX or 2 7900GTX in SLI. I don't think its much more. They can build great engines.

Never say never. PS3 has more than enough power to run Crysis. I bet it will be on PS3 sooner or later, DX10 or not its not really important. Perhaps it will be different game, like Farcry Instincts/Predator were

i would say never to crysis on ps3 cause it would be graphically inferior to an x360 version and pc version, how powerfull the ps3 maybe, it just doesnt support directx10, it just cant do those extra instructions ( or emulate em somehow, what would be damn slow), and yes maybe a game with the crysis engine ( directx9.0c mode) will show up, but crysis itself never will.

Xbox 360 doesn't make use of the DX10 for graphic purposes. Its incapable at a hardware level. No SM4.0 or Geometry shaders means that if crysis were to come to 360, it would look the same as on PC with DirectX9. And they are porting the CryEngine 2 to the PS3.

More details emerge about DirectX 10
Quote:
Microsoft has been a big fan of procedurally-generated graphics, including features on the Xbox 360 to specifically handle these items. However, DirectX 10 goes far beyond these ideas and adds features that, according to the interview, can't easily be done on the next-generation of consoles

No I doubt that, its just a big map.

Actually, it is going to be one big Map in the end. German mag interviewed the devs (they're german as well), and they said the whole game will have no loading times once its done. They mentioned that the mountains you see in the very far distance behind the fog, in the beginning of the vid when you just exit that airplane are climbable if you like. This means its possible to build huge oblivion style maps. The reason why he's talking bout loading levels in the vid is probably cus they're splitting up the game parts during development.

I guess they'll have a similiar system like in far Cry (helicopters attacking) to prevent players to run off too far away, since they want the player to follow a certain path. But they already promised that this "path" will be even wider and more open than in far cry. And I'm sure modders can build completely free roaming islands, since the engine obviously allows that.

For now, the company is getting Crysis done this winter for the PC. (And yes, before you ask, Crysis remains a Windows-only game, a fact that was again confirmed by the company during our recent visit.)

Just have to quote this fact once again, I love being a PC games (and I could care less if it came to consoles 1 year after release) Razz

The video looks great but I'm disappointed that as good as it looks it's fundamentally the same old tired gameplay mechanics of ye old point and shoot (for the most part). Yes there is more dynamism and new features and certainly an engine that is breathtaking to look at (on their hardware at least) but where is the gameplay innovation that will differentiate this from running through the corridors of a strogg base and so on? I certainly don't see it Sad

it would be cool if you could build stuff, like small houses, or booby traps, or simple vehicles, all from rubble lie-ing around or the trees you can shoot to pieces...

you know macgyver/A-team stuff Very Happy

If you want "gameplay innovation" go to the spore thread. This is and FPS and pointing and shooting is what makes it fun. For an FPS theres more than enough innovation, alone the idea with a dynamically changing world (everything is slowly and and dynamically turning to ice using some special morphing technique of the engine) and enemies and factions remembering you throughout the game which can affect the enemy reactions in later parts of the game. Sure, its nothing revolutionary going on their, but this is fucking fps. Call me a graphics whore, but that engine itself is innovation enough for me.

The innovation here comes in the form of complex environmental interaction. As well as jaw dropping visuals. I for one, cant wait for this game. Though Im thinking a hardware upgrade is definately going to be necessary.

Then you should face it, maybe you just don't like action games... there is only so much innovation you can do in it, before it becomes fundamentally different. Point and shoot is a part of first person shooter, deal with it or don't Razz

If simply pointing and shooting were so much fun on its own then those value-express type FPS games would be big hits - engrossing all action fans.

As I'm sure you'll agree there is more depth to an FPS than simple pointing and shooting and my arguement is that games are not exploring this facet in enough detail, instead they are focusing on the more frivilous areas that will be redundant in two years time.
