Can you tell me how you made it? I have an image of the German Version (Starforce-protected, too) and I have the RELOADED Release. But how can I create a crack? I can replace the speech files (***.vob) and then I have german speech, but text would be fine and I don't find the text files to replce. Can you tell me what to do?

Walkthrough? Are we still talking about Dreamfall? Confused

Dreamfall was a walk in the park. At all points in the game it tells you exactly what to do and how to do it

Puzzles? We're talking about Dreamfall here! In the version of Dreamfall I played the amount of different puzzles could easily be counted on one hand, and none of them were great

If it feels like a movie, then how can it be rated as a game? Had it been a movie, then I would have rated it high, but as it has no actual gameplay (no, walking from point A to point B is not gameplay) I don't see how it can be called a game

Well, that's your opinion and your alone, it is still a game no matter what you think. In fact I saw it nominated for GOTY on both Gamespot and Gamespy, plus in bunch of other categories like best soundtrack, story, voice-acting...

This game is an adventure game, and that's how they are made; in fact Dreamfall offers more in terms of gameplay than other adventures. It has pretty good stealth gameplay, combat system(not great, but other games lack one), dialog system, while other adventures can just beat it in terms of riddles, and that's pretty much it. Funcom just decided to concentrate on the story more, and man, they did a freaking fine job.

Amazing game, one of the rare ones that managed to get on my top-list, and I wasn't even an adventure game fan before...but when I started playing it I just got drawn in and couldn't stop. It was like the first game I finished in half a year. Don't miss this one.

Funny, then could you care to explain why... :

BearishSun wrote:

... on the day of release a lot of people (mostly adventure fans) complained about the boring stealth (which didn't add anything positive to the game play experience) and the annoying combat (which also didn't really add anything. I like fighting games, so the easy fighting in this game was just boring)... not to mention the top of the complaints list: the lack of something to do, most people complained about the lack of puzzles

But I do agree that the dialogs are great, a lot of adventure games should take a note of this Smile

Puzzles is what adventure games is about. Most adventure game fans I've asked said that even an adventure game with the best story is nothing if there's no puzzles of some sort. A lot of adventure game fans were disappointed with Dreamfall. Why did they have to call it Dreamfall - The Longest Journey... TLJ fans were in for a huge letdown with this one

The story is great, I agree... or at least the part we got, unfortunately they forgot to include the ending (ok, I lied before... this was actually on the number 1 spot on the complaints list)

I already did, because all other sites seem to agree it's a great game, not an interactive movie.

Well perhaps they did, but I don't see why, because you yourself said adventure is all about the riddles, and this is pretty much the only adventure game with ANY kind of stealth gameplay I played lately. I enjoyed the stealth actually. And I was comparing stealth and combat relative to another adventure games, not comparing stealth to e.g. thief series and combat to fighting games. That's like saying that hand and leg attacks in FEAR are crap compared to tekken or something. I already said, Funcom decided to go with a story, and not with riddles, and they made a very good choice, because it was better than any other adventure game I played(Also note that I enjoy games much more than movies, if you'd like to compare the 2 again).

Sure, that was my opinion too, before I tried Dreamfall. Funcom redefined the genre, and I'm never quick to judge inovative attempts. They made a good choice with the story, because if they concentrated on thing as riddles and such, it would make other parts of the game suffer. We all agree riddles are lacking tho, but not lacking enough to make this a bad game as you described in your first post.

Belive it or not, this was a good decision, because no matter what ending they did I would be dissapointed. I always find movies and game with no ending more interesting. They built it up so much, so that no matter what they did it would be a dissapointment. If you ever watched show Outer Limits, you'll know how no endings can be soooo much better than any ending.

If you ever watch these "modern" shows as Battlestar Galactica and Heroes, in their beggining; they have many different plots running at the same time, many loose ends, you can never grasp the story, it's just overwhelming, and that makes it interesting. As the shows go on it makes more sense and they aren't near as interesting as they were at their beginnings. So, what Funcom did, it left us with tons of loose ends, pretty much leaving us with infinite possibilities.

Not to mention it kept me wanting for more, and constantly thinking about the game, because if they ended it, it would have been "just another game". In any case my opinion is that no ending is best ending. It's hard to explain why I like it so, I tried; it might just be my nature, or you just need to see more such games/movies to learn to love it.

If that were true, it would be on Ragnar Tørnquist's blog by now. According to him, the status of the final part is still unknown. There was some bizarre info in Funcom's third quarter report, but that's about it so far.

Whether or not they make the final game is irrelevant though, Dreamfall was still far and away the best game of 2006.

12 award nominations for best of the year awards Smile If you haven't tried this yet, you have to.

Funcom never dissapointed me so far, I spent 3 years playing Anarchy Online, and I remember those years as the best gaming years of my life; and Dreamfall was such a magical experience I will never forget; I am sure they will not dissapoint us with Age of Conan.
