Maybe you should get a new computer if it doesn't run to your satisfaction, but I know people who have it run perfectly on computers which are 5 years old. |
I've got a brand new top spec computer and source runs just fine as far as it goes but don't try and tell me it isn't a piece of shit.
Top spec machine with 2Gb RAM and still those tiny maps and infuriating loading screens every few minutes that take bloody ages to load even on a fast PC. That's why source is crap.
Far Cry showed how it could and should be done and Crysis will put Valve to further shame.

In my opinon, Far Cry is the best FPS yet.
And from how it looks now, Crysis is gonna take the lead.

have you seen it this game uses the same technik like far cry to show details i mean LOD the more closer you are the more details you see , just look again on the video clip and see how the shadows , textures , objects change if you are close and far from them . The same thing was in Oblivion but in Crysis they used the blur to hide that and named it the simulation of human focus (deep field of view)

It's actually the further away, the less detail, but LOD isn't exactly a new concept (was used in Q2, among other things). And if you think about it, its a necessity. Otherwise you would end up with a game taking up 4gigs of memory and several million polys on screen at once.

Oh, I certainly agree that the small maps are rather crap. But the other guys argument about it being unoptimised was utter shight.
It reminds me of Oblivion/Morrowind and Gothic 1/2. Oblivion has loading every time you enter an interior or city, and Morrowind even loads outdoors, while Gothic hardly loads at all, and it has a massive world.
It seems some developers just can't be bothered to code an engine which limits loading, or at least streams the loading process.

It's not to hide the LOD, it's because it looks awesome. It's in Hitman Blood Money too and it looks great in that.

Hope so. After all we (PC owners) must have at least one really good exclusive game. |
Honestly, why? Do you think it'll make the game any better?
|
You will NEVER get the accuracy with the handcontroller (x360) as with a mouse + keybord setup In a FPS. NEVER! What do the Devs do then? They prolly dumb down the AI instead.. and whats fun with dumb AI ?(You notice It very much on PC with the better aiming) then they prolly have to simplify other stuff to...
No to multi-platform FPS..
I dont care If they make a PORT from PC to x360 later, I just dont want something developed both for PC and X360 at the same time. (Sure they can make 2 versions, but mostly that doesnt happen.Takes to much Dev-time)
Farcry got console-versions. And this will to, everything making much money wants to spread to as much platforms as possible.
Sig too big.

No I doubt it will be ported. Well we even cant say FarCry was ported to Xbox, because those are two different games. If Crysis will be ported at all, then it will be somekind of different game.

So i searched a bit few minutes ago and it's looking that only PS3 port is planned ( engine will be optimised to Cell architecture )

@Spunk[k]
I agree with you man. As long as it get ported to xbox 360 (and not the other way around) I don't have a problem with it.
But for it to be exclusive to PC, just to be exclusive, is pointless...

crysis has been optimized for dx10, something the x360 partially supports, ps3 runs on OpenGL, no f*cking way we'll ever see this game ps3, x360 is somewhat plausible. |
Never say never. PS3 has more than enough power to run Crysis. I bet it will be on PS3 sooner or later, DX10 or not its not really important. Perhaps it will be different game, like Farcry Instincts/Predator were
