I'm looking for a NDS site with info and reviews on backups and hardware to allow you to play your back-ups. Can someone point me in the correct direction please?

Thanks

So what is the best hardware solution right now (and on the horizon for that matter) to play NDS backups?

M3 miniSD or Supercard miniSD for DS
for DS lite I'd wait and see what the EZ lite and the G6 lite turn out like.

And you'll need a passkey. The 3rd generation ones are the same size as a DS cart. They all do the same really.

Have you seen this? http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-nds-neo8 It seems cool 8 gig's and all but nothing I see about a passkey. Also if you are loading a ds rom does that mean you have to have something in the gba slot and in the ds slot at the same time?

it's got a 1 gig SD card in it (8 Gigabits) Neoflash products are always overpriced.
This is a passkey and flash storage all in one, and sticks out quite a bit from the DS slot.
You need a passkey or to have flashed your DS with the Flashme firmware to run a DS rom from the GBA slot. The new 3rd gen passkeys are the same size as a DS game, so don't stick out.

exactly like that. Although it doesn't really matter if your going to use Flashme firmware, as it'll only get used once.

It seems that if you get the passcard i posted above or something quite like it then get the new ezflash 4 lite you should have nothing sticking out. Problem is Ezflash 4 lite was just released like today or something so it's a pain to find. Also it will use Micro SD memory which only goes up to size of 1gig. I would rather have a little bit sticking out if it means I get 2 gig's storage.

Anyway it looks like the cost to have this completed is somewhere near $300. $138 for the system (including taxes) either $53 for 2 1gig mini sd memory cards or $63 for 1 2 gig card i am not sure yet. Then $20 for the pass card and another $30-$40 for the Flash Cartrage then another $10 for shipping. That's about $260 at minimum. Considering the price of the system itself if you were going to buy 3 games for the system the devices then easily pay for themselfs. So I will definetly need to spend time thinking about if I am going to do it or not.

I'm waiting on a new ds lite sized M3.
G6 looks good, but not enough ram. (The biggest they make is 4 gigabit)
Most games use at least 256 and many take up 512, so even the largest
G6 can only hold 10-15 games.
I'm thinking 1 gigabyte is the smallest to have room for games and some mp3s.
EZFlash4 Lite is out in China and should be here soon, but I'll wait for m3. Very Happy

I'm recently getting into the DS Scene, and I was wondering if I could bounce a few ideas off some of you guys, as I've been doing my own research recently.

I currently have a DS Lite. I want to do the following:

(a) Play DS Roms
(b) Play GBA Roms
(c) Play NES + SNES Emulation (Also Genesis if it exists)
(d) Play DivX/XviD Files... if possible.

From what I've read via google. I need the following:

(1) Passcard 3. This goes into the DS Cart Slot, is the exact size of a DS game, so nothing sticks out. This is $20-$25
(2) FlashCart. This is where it gets sticky. I want one that will be flush with the DS Lite, as I like my stuff to look as much stock as possible. Right now I'm looking at the M3 MiniSD. It looks like it sticks out, just a hair, which is a bummer.

I've looked at the EZ Lite 4, but I'm not sure if I can use the Passcard 3, since what I see from I have to use the passme adaptor, which I don't want to use. I'd rather use a nopass adaptor for it, aka passcard 3.

This is where I need some guidance. I'm looking for a device that will do all of the above, PLUS sit flush with my DS Lite. I want to use a nopass system, and I want good compatability with DS/GBA Roms. Last question, is how does saving work? I assume it just saves to the flash cart, but is there any trouble with this? Do they sell 40x or 133x SD/MicroSD/MiniSD carts? Would this speed up game play to avoid slow downs? Thanks

Can anyone piont me in the correct direction? A place that sells them wound be great too.. thanks

My advice would be to wait a month for the new M3 and SC.

The EZ-4 lite is good but questions re-main about the EZ-Teams ability to get things done. Also the EZ4 does have problems with Passcard3 and Superkey (though early revisions did work, this is where the confusion is).. but there are a few alternatives like the NeoKey and UFP and MML(new ones only), these are no/pass devices too.

btw.. the M3 miniSD does stick out a long way on the new DS-lites. On the old style DS (phat) they only stick out a little.

So, the new M3 is a M3 that takes MicroSD, and the SC is a new supercard? I've heard rumors that M3 is making a new flash device where the Micro/MiniSDs plug directly into the NoPass, so you don't even need the GBA flash cart. Is this true? Where can I look for reviews/sites that sell or talk about this info?

THanks for the tip about M3 MiniSD, it sticks out 9mm on a DS (phatty), but on a lite it sticks out way more, I didn't notice that. Thanks, Lastly do you have to patch the ROMS to be saved?

The new M3 will take microsd memory and should fit completely flush inside the ds lite.
It still will need a passcard though. Unless you flash the ds and then you don't need a passcard.

Right now, the eazy4lite is available. It stick out 1 mm. But they are not 100% compatible and have slow firmware updates.

The G6 lite is completely flush, but it has internal memory. Very good compatibility.
G6 lite Pro is cheaper but doesn't support GBA.

Most flashcards you need to take a clean rom dump and use their proprietary software to get it to load up.

I'm not so sure if a micro-SD adapter can fit flush in any card. Take a look at the new NEO attempt:

G6 lite pro doesn't exist. It was something that winsunx completely made up.
I'd wait a few weeks before buying a G6 lite. There's only chinese test versions being sold at the moment.

I'm going to wait until Augest/September for a MicroSD by M3. When it comes out, I'll snatch one after the first week its released, since I'm still green I don't want to be one of the first people to find out their setup doesn't work. I figure that if the MicroSD is vaporware, then all it'll do is drop the price of MiniSD and maybe even the M3 MiniSD adaptor. I got a few original games to play until then.

I've already downloaded the emulators:

PocketNES (NES Emulator for GBA)
nesDS (NES Emulator for NDS)
picrodrivedsv (Genesis Emulator for NDS)
snesDS (SNES Emulator for NDS)
snezzids (SNES Emulator for NDS)

I hope most of those will play games full speed. I basically want to play some old school RPGS , but it'll be a blast to play all the old school games on a handheld.

Thanks everyone,

Does SNES and genesis run good on NDS? I bought a PSP for those because last I checked the DS couldnt handle them, only NES and GB+GBA stuff.

From what I read the SNES/Genesis emulators that are ported to NDS work pretty well. It's the ones that were made for GBA that don't run as well, because they use the GBA hardware, not the faster NDS hardware.

Eitherway, I've realized that many of the games I really want to play are already ported to GBA by Nintendo. I only *really* want to play NES games; Megaman, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy etc. It would be just gravy to play some SNES and Genesis games while I was at it.

I guess I can't complain what works and what doesn't, but I hear PocketNES is awesome. Hopefully that MicroSD by M3 will be out soon, so I can test all these goodies.

I've read that the MK line isn't that great. They promise alot of things, but when it is released, it falls short. The updates for their hardware are far and in between, but they are quick to release new hardware. EZ4 lite is cool, sits flush with a DSL, but only the chinese ones are out, it'll be a few weeks until the English ones are out.

After doing some more reading, the M3 Lite (takes MicroSD), won't be out for a long time. The team says they are working on it, but 3 resellers have all said that don't expect it for at least 1.5 months. So I ordered a M3 Passcard 3 (as the pass device), and a M3 MiniSD as the flash card. I got them both for $102, from www.realhotstuf.com If you select the package, you save a few bucks. It was only $7 to ship, and when I ordered on Wednesday morning, I got an email that night that they shipped. I should get it by next week. I then ordered a 2GB MiniSD card from www.newegg.com that was about $60. I ordered a 2nd unit for a friend, and a 1GB MiniSD card for him. Newegg has 3 day shipping, so I should have all my gear by the end of next week. If you'd like, I can tell you how I like it, but from my review I think this is the best setup, but I prolly could have saved $40 if I got the supercard, but from what I read the M3 are better compatability.

If you like, I can tell you how I like it when I get it...

The MK4-Mini is one of the only nopass's that can boot the EZFlash4.

EZ4lite is ok. It's either that or G6lite at the moment. But the G6lite isn't out for another 2 weeks at the least.

yeah I guess they never had a pro version.
The test versions are perfectly good.
You can flash Chinese or English updates.
The Chinese ones out now will only support Chinese flashes.
Hopebuy.com is taking pre-orders for English g6 lite.

I think M3 can do a flush micro SD, although the card may have to load from the side.
I'd buy a g6, but 4 megabits is a little too small. 8 would be fine.

Wow, my MiniSD came in really fast. I ordered from www.realhotstuff.com on Wednesday, and I got it here on Friday. They are out of NJ on the East Coast, and I'm in WA on the West Coast. Pretty fast. Its too bad that my MiniSD cards don't get here until Monday... but still that was freaking fast.

If anyone wants anything Supercard related in the UK or Europe go to .... http://www.supercardstore.com/ ..note the prices also include delivery.

Cheapest prices I have ever seen and the delivery speed is excelent, they promised 1 day for UK orders and sure enough I got my stuff in 1 day. The comunication from the owner Chris Lime is excelent, he even contacted me the day after to check everything was OK.... unbeleviable.

Lots of guys over a gbatemp also sing his praises.

Nice... hope they put in faster gba ram in this time, or they might well drop gba support altogether and put in some kind of high speed buffer ram setup to negate the memory card speed issue.

But probably it will be exactly the same a all their other Supercard variants, woth slow ass gba ram but mega cheap.
